No Emile is a real die hard!

The picture in the snow is not normal for a cotton tent! Don't do it! It can break because of the ice on the cotton. This was an 'accident'.....
Normally you really nead an polyester tent for camping in snow!

Cornerhouse, there are some instructions on the de waard website that you can print out for putting up their tents.

You need to peg it out symetrically using the guys from the main seams on the canvas first, so if you peg out a guy on one side, then go and do the one on the opposite side next.  The instructions usually give you a number order of which ones to peg out first.

And when you pack it away, make sure the zips are not rubbing against the pvc windows on the doors.

I was blown out of two tent's on my summer holidays in Wales this year and I need to buy a new one, I'd love to get a Karsten tent but wow they are lots of money. Do you think they are worth it? And is there a second hand market for them where you live?

I'd love to actually see one but the UK showroom is 4.5 hours from my home in london.

Can I pick your brains a little more.

Because of their pyramid like design do you have much dead space where the wall meets the groundsheet? You have the 325, but I'm thinking it may not be big enough for our purposes, did you ever wish you had gone for the larger tents? Also do you have to make sure nothing touches the wall of the tent to prevent water getting in?

A Karsten is not a pyramid !! Look at their website. It is an inflatable tent with the quality of a De Waard. The concept is quitte different though..

And in a De Waard there is off course the wall that comes down. The lowest space is where you sleep. Not a big problem.
Consider a tent with 2 primary poles at the top (like the Vergrote Zilvermeeuw, Jan van Gent, Roerdomp) Those tents have a different angle between the wall en the ground....

Wooden pegs are ideal to use in the dunes!

And the elastics are for the windschield(s) Normally there are 5 D-rings at the bottum. There you will have to use the elastic to put the shield nice and tidy
