Hi Steve, as Foxylady says, the walks and river, and falls etc are accessible by the public. There are four different walks from the carpark, depending on how much time and energy you've got, or you can just do your own wander.

great ,, thanks for info , i was beginning to wonder if the only people who went there stayed on the campsite ,, it looks a fantastic campsite , as many have attested to , and it would have been a definite when i holidayed with my daughter when she was younger , just not my thing nowadays , as i like to move around more ,, whistle stop touring ,,

From memory it was 3 per car, there is a small shop there that sells ice creams, teas & coffess and cold drinks too.  There were lots of day trippers there when we went camping, I wish I lived closer

Not a lot in the area??? How much do you want?
I thought it was a glorious area - it had everything we needed within a short drive, some of it within walking distance. There is loads to do in the area. The only thing 'lacking' is a large supermarket (although personally I think thats a plus )

The pub just down the road in Llanbedr looked good and despite the size of the shops in the village, they were surprisingly well stocked, good range of stuff. Not a bad little butchers either, although the better butcher is, I think, further along towards Barmouth. Llanbedr is a 30 - 40 minute walk from the campsite if you don't want to drive.
There isn't much at the site itself, which is what makes it so perfect (for us!) But it does depend what you like - if you like a few more facilities and easier access to things, then it's better as a day visit.

We visited the pub in Llanbedr, nice outdoor area, undercover area for eating, we didnt eat there but our camping neighbours did and they recommended it, the little shop opposite sold everything we needed during the week, we did visit Tescos at Porthmadog once because the beer was cheaper!  The campsite refroze our freeze blocks which was very handy.  We stayed there for 6 days 5 nights and found plenty to do, I could have stayed much longer.

What is the space like for the piches at Nantcol, at height of season does it feel cramped or are they nicely spaced out?
