Hi: we are avid stargazers and are looking for a small campsite with EHU, showers and toilets, that will accommodate trailer-tents and dogs, with minimal light pollution. We are open to all suggested sites within the UK, but will be concentrating on The Fens at the beginning of October

Dumfries and Galloway is known for its Dark Skies and has lots of sites to choose from.
Not that far from where you live.

Check out the site search site on this forum.

Exmoor. Designated dark sky.
Halse Farm at Winsford, reviewed on UKCS, has exactly what you are looking for.

I second the Kielder suggestion, although it is a little out of your way.

Have a look at Balloch O Dee in Dumfries and Galloway. D&G is a designated dark skies area. Balloch O Dee is a beautiful, small basic campsite. Check out the bothy and the roundhouse. Beautiful.

Glentrool on the edge of Galloway Dark Skies Park

Other UK Dark Skies Parks and Discovery Sites are shown on this map.

For anyone in Ireland, Kinnego Marina is in the same park as Oxford Island Dark Sky Discovery Site.
