Define "good campsite", Davy!

Do you want peace and quiet?
Good views?
Would you prefer no children on site, or do you need your five kids to be entertained?
Do you need your 3 dogs to be exercised on site?
Do you need to be able to stroll to a nearby hostelry, or even one on site?
Would you prefer your EHU to be on a metre, so you pay for what you use, rather than a fixed charge per night?
Do you want a swimming pool, or are you thinking a shower block with underfloor heating will be more appropriate?
Would you be happy to pitch on hard-standing, or does it need to be grass?
Are you happy to be in amongst caravans/Trailer tents etc, or prefer a tent only field?

Tell us your preferences/ideals, (and ignore those that don't matter to you) and we may be able to help... despite it being a little quiet on here now winter's setting in!

Depends how much you are willing to pay. In Derbyshire there are 5* sites but you pay the prices for the excellent facilities or cheap good sites with basic facilities.

Buxton is not in the Peak Park.
They went round it because of industry in the area????

If i was you stop just outside.

Broomfield Farm BrackenField, Wessington.
Kids welcome, and basicly old fashion site no frills.
Pitch on slope . elec, shower , toilets. 10 pn but nothing around you.
6 mile from Matlock.

Popular Farm, Hulland Ward, near Carsington Water, Ashbourne.
Great place, Adults only, hard standing. good site . 15pn
6 mile Ashbourne, Belper, Matlock.

Both ok and there are others to choise from without getting ripped off.

Thats Caravan price, cheaper for tents.

Peak 'Park' / Peak 'District' Ray???

Isn't Buxton in the Peak 'District'???

Or are they classed as separate?

Hello Everyone,

I am looking at planning my summer trip for 2017.

I have stayed in the Peak District a few times over recent years and when the weathers good you cannot beat it. I have stayed in Ashbourne and Bakewell but I want to be somewhere more exciting this year.

I will more than likely be planning a walk across the space of a few days and hopefully stay somewhere different each night so I need somewhere that allows tent and has decent facilities.

I just wondered if anyone had done this before and coud recommend a good route with nice places to camp up at night.

Of course a good local pub is ideal

Thanks everyone for your feedback , after checking out all the sites mentioned we have decided on Beech Croat Farm looks as though there are some nice walks around that area . What are nice places to Visit ? (We have a Labradour ) so places where dogs are welcome

I've not stayed at Beech Croft Farm but often at a small site not far away. Monsal Head and the trail that is now open through the old tunnels is a must. Pubs that we especially like are the Red Lion at Litton and the Packhorse at Little Longstone. You've also got Chatsworth estate and Bakewell not far away.

Also, not sure how far away you would want to drive for a good walk but have a look at shutingslow (over the Cat and Fiddle road to Macclesfield) , Gradbach and the Roaches.
