Would like to suggest a facility to indicate more information.

More and more travellers (especially abroad) would like to know whether or not there is WiFi on sites and in particular whether free or paid for. (Some charge an arm and a leg and charge for each device) also the connection speed would be useful by using the free app on site.

Some might like to know Satellite reception too?

Could Mods please consider these suggestions?

Many might, but I must admit I'm not in the least bothered. It's good to get away from it. We never take a TV, don't have smartphones or tablets, and rarely take even a laptop with us. If we really want to look something up we just find a hot-spot somewhere.

I get it that some - maybe many - are not bothered, but itís important for many families who want to play online and keep in touch with friends - instagram etc.
We need to be attractive to young users - or we go the way of M & S and people donít come here?

Just saying .... maybe the mods will consider it?

Tíinternet is an important source of tourist info and checking things out is important for us and maybe many others?

And yes , Ray, not just abroad, - we are abroad a lot, so I posted relative to that- but equally important in UK

Oxter
Agree about attracting the younger generation as well.
And spreading the word about our hobby.
Use it or lose it.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone who wants these things, or with them being provided, but I'm an old dinosaur who doesn't mind being out of touch for a while. Sometimes I even enjoy it.

I am of a generation when the internet did't exist, nor did computers or mobile phones. TV was only broadcast in the evenings and in black and white when I was a kid, and my parents didn't have a home-phone. Being "out of touch" wasn't an issue then, and we still survived. I still use maps to get around, not sat-nav, but I don't criticise those who use such modern aids. It's all a matter of choice, and I'm glad we have such choices.

You are not quite the dinosaur you claim to be, Colin. You are online obviously. I am the same generation as you, but we need to move with the times, or we are doomed to old age and all that goes with it.

Iíve learned all I know about travel through UKCS and posts about foreign travel, repairs, etc and love all the tips and sharing of info and advice. My analogy re Markies was intended. We either keep up to date on here or we remain only attractive to your generation and mine. Iím thinking you donít still have a B & W telly, and you probably have a cell/mobile phone?

Use available facilities, or ignore them as you choose, but this website needs to move with the times. There have been comments re less posts and fewer new topics - I think that tells us something. People find google simpler to use, and itís a first choice for many.

Be warned.

What we have is.
Quite a lot of information as we already are aware of.
Which we as members etc need to help fill in the gaps.

You also have to remember that alot of sites like this turn into a facebook page, and in my case would never be seen by me again, as i do not like facebook.

The site is moving in the right way.
It is not only about the items Oxter, and Colin have bought up, it is about the bigger picture.

But we also have to help update it, and add to it along the way, and not leave it to just a few.
You have only got to look at site reviews to see that most users do not leave one.
That or no one must use these sites anymore.
The site offers a £100 for best reviews, and that is where the info would come from to update things.

And to be honest, We will only get out this site, what we are also willing to put into it.

Hope that makes sence??

Cheers
Ray

Makes perfect sense Ray. I love this site. Sometimes I ask for help or advice and usually get it, and other times I try to help others. I normally leave a review for any site I visit, but I haven't got any prizes yet. Not really why I do it anyway.

Oxter, yes I do have a mobile phone, but that's all it is, a phone. It's a Nokia 6210, it's on PAYG, and it cost me less than £7 for the whole of last year! No I don't have a B&W TV now, can you still get them? I am just someone who believes in using only what I need, and I never buy anything just because "everyone has one". Some people though can't live without their technology, just not me. I agree with what you say about this site though.

As someone who has cancelled my twitter and Facebook accounts, and probably only use this forum now out of interest in the different views and ideas that come up and the hilarious wit of some posters on here no I don't need wifi.

I use 4g for almost everything I need when away from home and have seldom had any problems contacting family and friends (usually whatsapp) and streaming any programs I want to watch.

I believe Wifi as we know it is rapidly going the way of the indoor telephone line consigned to history

We have just returned from a c l with no phone or internet. My wife was taken ill and we needed several phone calls to sort out a doctor and prescription which brought this post into sharp focus.
I thought at the time that details of facilities should be clear. However on reflection if they had wi fi and good phone signal the site owners would almost certainly say so.My thinking now is that if they donít mention it they wonít have it.

Your last sentence is probably right Mister G.

We stayed on a similar CS near Tenby last year, and fortunately we had no need of a doctor, but I'm sure that if we had the site owner would have made a call for us. Mobiles etc are very handy and do make things so much easier in that respect, but we managed without them for hundreds of years. How did people get on when there weren't even landlines? My parents never had one.

Hiya all, it looks like lots of you are commenting about sites you have visited, or that you use the reviews, etc. yet haven't submitted reviews for stays at sites that are being discussing.

It would help others tremendously if you were to share your experiences, and you can search for the sites you have visited and submit your reviews from here

Plus you will be in with a chance to win £150 in Amazon vouchers for each review you submit!

Cheers Ratty

Well said Ratty. Iíve just added the site we are on near Montpellier in France. It is not listed but will appear soon. It only takes a few minutes and we all benefit from othersí opinions on facilities to help us decide where we are going.
Great site and great weather. You can be sure I will comment on the WiFi etc 😀.
