I agree. I usually submit a review for any sites I visit, and will continue to do so. I also read carefully any reviews for sites I am considering, and find most of them very useful. They have often influenced our decision.

When I read a lot of reviews on here I often wonder what I should take away from them as they often consist of how the reviewer enjoyed their holiday, how friendly the wardens were and a bit of local information. I want detail, including wifi!!! My reviews might be boring but hopefully they give the reader a good helping of information on everything about the site. If it were possible I would even add photographs.

You cannot say that you do not do reviews, and put most of us all to shame.
Well me anyway.
As for boring.
No i do not think they are.
And maybe a few lessons on how to do a better review, will be learnt by people like me, reading yours.

I guess we all have different priorities. All I want from a site is peace and quiet, nice surroundings, friendly and helpful staff/owners, EHU, and clean toilets/showers. I want to know whether people enjoyed their stay, and if they didn't, why not. If they did enjoy it, I want to know what made it special for them.

Personally I couldn't care less about TV reception, wifi, or mobile signal, but that's just me. Others will think completely differently, which is perfectly natural.

I agree with colin somewhat. I try to cover most aspects of a site when I write a review, but as I don't use Wifi or watch TV, then those topics are not included by me. Nor do I look out for those in other peoples reviews, but I'm sure others do.

I donít expect everyone to want the information I suggested, but we need to think of the greater good. Kids and teens will often want the facility, and I am happy to see info re dog walking and kids play areas and lots of facilities which donít mean much to me and I donít need.
I accept that lots - dare I say- older lots, couldnít care about tíinternet or títelly, but thatís not to say there shouldnít be a box to tick when reporting on a new site, or a comment to make in a review.
There is always an indication in the ACSI Camping Card book book if WiFi is available on sites and whether at a point (hotspot) or over at least over 80/100% of the site. Unfortunately, without emailing the site or sometimes checking the tariff, you donít know.
Itís an acceptable Ä12 per week where I am just now, but almost extortion on some sites.
I hope the moderators will consider it anyway, and thanks for the comments - for and against

Edit: just a thought - itís so much easier to review a campsite while you are there, rather than trying to remember the facilities of many sites when you get home. (Of course, youíd need WiFi to do that 😀😀 or have a really good data allowance. I have 1gb with my EE plan and it wonít last a month with frequent use.

I'm certainly not against putting information about wifi, TV, etc in reviews, all I'm saying is that I wouldn't think to put it as I probably wouldn't have used it anyway. Nor is it anything that I personally would look for in a review. It certainly wouldn't influence my choice of whether to go there, but I agree it might influence others, so that's fine.

Kids play areas and entertainment might actually put me off a site, if it meant that it was likely to be noisy and/or expensive, but I wouldn't expect such information to be left out. There will be those who will want it, as I would have done at one time when our kids were growing up. The more info the better I think.

Thanks David. I admire your attention to detail as well as your prolific reviews. I am trying to catch up - without success.
I suppose if people donít read the reviews, they are unlikely to contribute but itís good to see reminders on the subject.
I think thereís a reluctance to submit new sites - perhaps because it takes a wee bit longer, but we need plenty choice and reviews in Dutch are not the easiest to understand - (without WiFi and Google Translate) - another reason to have it?
Edit youíll see Iíve been back to

Saint Rome de Dolan and its better than ever. Good Satellite reception too

Double Edit: it was Berriow and Val who had been before, but I canít speak toohighly of the site

It might useful to have an indication of the ages of the reviewer and those in the party.

We are a wrinkly couple that avoid crowds, cycle on flat roads, want good sanitaires, free wi-fi and drink too much wine.

Our reviews tend to favour these facilities. Waterparks, discos etc are of no interest.

Good point about the age Stuart, I'll try to remember to put mine on the next review I do. It certainly would make a difference to the opinion of a site.

We are a wrinkly couple too, with one small dog, so what we would consider a "good" site, others might not like. A family with young children would probably find some of the sites we love boring, and some of the sites they would book up months in advance to get on, we would avoid. We hate crammed, crowded sites, or sites that are likely to be noisy. If we want entertainment or a drink, we prefer to go off-site for it. We are not bothered about any kind of technology apart from EHU, sometimes it's good to get away from it, but we do want clean facilities.

The thing with any review is that whatever the product, I often find that there are loads of great reviews, then one that says that it is terrible. If that terrible one is in a tiny minority, I ignore it.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed : people who give negative reviews rarely, if ever, post anything on the forums.

Some very valid points have been made, although they
have wandered a little away from the original post about wifi (as I'm about to do!)

I always try and make my reviews objective, rather than subjective, and try and imagine how other people would view the site. For this reason I rarely give a site 10 out of 10 as there is almost always a little something that isn't quite right.

However, I was a little put out when I'd given a very pleasant site 8 out of ten, and the next review began with an emphatic "Not good enough for us" and a mere 4 !

In future I will try to mention wifi and age group (wrinkly.)

I am sure a few duff reviews get through on here but the majority are from genuine people. I would much prefer to take note of reviews on here than say Trip Advisor.

I hardly ever mention the loos and showers, simply because most of the sites we use are CLs/CSs that don't have them, but they seem to be vitally important to most people.

Don't get me started on Trip Advisor, we went to a "lovely" beach in Northern Ireland, it was grim in the extreme!

Fair enough not mentioning loos and showers if it's a CL, but we've been disappointed by rave reviews of some sites, only to find the loos awful. It turned out the reviewers always used their own facilities, so didn't have a clue what the loos were like, but hadn't mentioned this in the reviews.

So if there's any facility you don't use, not just loos but restaurant, laundry etc, it helps to mention this.

Today I received a £150 Amazon voucher from UKCS for one of my recent reviews. What a bonus! Thank you so much UKCS.

Not the reason we do review sites, but it is a lovely surprise, and certainly an incentive to me and others to continue (whether WiFi or Satellite is mentioned.)

Keep reviewing folks - you may be lucky next time.
