In an edition of Caravan magazine printed earlier in the year, a caravanner wrote an article in which he described his peg puller as the best on offer. Itappeared to be a ground lever type where you use foot pressure to lift the peg. I have searched the internet for this device but had no koy. I have contacted the magazine who also cannot find it online and have, todate had no response from the writer. Can anyone shed any light on this puller.

I remember seeing "Leisurewize Peg Mate" on Towsure.com - not sure if it's the same

I have always used a claw hammer, but if you want to do it with your foot perhaps one of these would suffice.

There was one highlighted somewhere amongst the forums a good year or so ago, (and commented upon by Mike Gallagher) but no idea where those comments would be now!!

However, I found something that does for us (Hard ground pegs for tenting), and although the smallest is fine for us, they do a variety of sizes.

Just a word of warning... I needed to open up the "slot" (with a grinder) to fit snuggly around the peg and fully get under the peg head, thus avoiding slipping off!

I bought the smallest version, (7"?) found in B&M for about £3.99 (from memory), but I believe they do a wider range (of sizes) at screw fix.

Search for "GORILLA BAR" or "ROUGHNECK GORILLA BAR".

They're basically jemmy bars, but with a flat profile (approx 2" wide) for more stability.

This is my baby one, between lump hammer and claw hammer...

Examples here...

Don't forget... you'll need to open up the slot in the "claw", as they are basically nail bars.

If you do find that "proper" peg pulling lever, I seem to remember comments on them "being expensive for what they are" and "no better than these Gorilla bars" (barring the small matter of the slot size)!

Hope that helps.

EDIT:

Oops... I only went and left the decimal point out of the price!!

Don't suppose you would have read on, seeing a price tag of £399!!

... I've found the mention of it. Seems it was called an "Easylever", but googling that now, it doesn't seem to bring up the link I was looking for.

The mention, and a link (now broken!!), was found on page 4 of my peg bag thread.

Same here mate, for the majority of the time... can't remember the last time I needed to take a running jump at the jemmy bar, but as they say, it's always handy to have one, just in case!

Think I'll use it next weekend... just for sentimental reasons... now it seems I'm dumping my Karsten pegs, and going back to the 9" nails! And besides, shopping at B&M, I have to keep shoving the claw hammer handle back on! At least my jemmy is one piece!

Don't mention B&M to me at the moment. But that's another story of which I may have to confess on here one day. All I will say is always check you have packed everything before setting off camping.

Another vote for the claw hammer. You can also use a small crowbar to remove pegs.
