There is some caravan gear in store on Sunday 28th Mar (and also the following Sunday). Special buys

I need to buy some toilet fluid - which ones do people tend to go through faster, the flush or the tank additive?

The amount of blue liquid you put in the cassette tank is about as equivalent as the quantity of pink put in the flush tank so theoretically they containers should empty at roughly the same time. However, it depends personally as to how concentrated you like the pink flush water so from personal experience I tend to use a bit more pink fluid than blue.
I clicked on the link and seen what Aldi had on offer and tempted to buy the fire extinguisher as it's one item I've never had and always said that we need one just in case. It's an item you buy that you hope you never have to use.

yeh , always make me smile when asked to leave a review of emergency items, like the extinguisher, or an emergency car window breaker and seatbelt cutter, you hope you will never be able to review it.

Thanks for the comment about the toilet fluid - was asking because I'm sure I read a comment from someone who buys the Elsan double pack and had accumulated one particular colour but I couldn't remember which....

Lidl also do the fire extinquishers from time to time and they had them reduced about 2 or 3 weeks ago (£6.99)

I've tried the toilet blue and pink fluids from Aldi which are made by 'Blue Diamond' but wasn't impressed with the results even though they are competitively priced. The pink seemed to be slightly watered down so used more in the long term and the blue seemed rather weak as well to other known brands. I've also tried Theford's own brand but their pink fluid over time leaves black bits behind especially over the winter period even though the toilet had been drained to avoid freezing up. The start of the next season there was evidence of black bits in the flush water so had to treat that with a dose of Milton left overnight which permanently cured it so now avoid that brand completely. However, the brand I have found to be the best but not the cheapest is Elsan as we not only like the aroma but never encountered any problem with black bits with their pink fluid. Of course it's down to personal choice at the end of the day but judging by general feedback over the past years, Thetford pink seems to have had a bad reputation in terms of unsightly visible black bits in the toilet flush water.

We add a glug of Dettol to the pink in the reservoir, seems to stop the black mould.

Just use plain water in the flush tank & cheap Aldi or Lidl bio wash liquid in the septic tank. Works for me & many others. Keep some non bleach disinfectant spray for the bowl.

It keeps the waste tank nice and clean as well. If you look at the make up of most cheap toilet chemicals they are essentially little different to the bio wash liquid with maybe added scents that in many cases are nearly as bad as having unscented.

Surprised to see a Caravan Mover in the Aldi magazine as I didnít realise they sold items priced at £500. Not tempted by an Air beam windbreak at £200 though! The Waste Water Carrier with wheels has a fold down shelf for the toilet cassette, which might be handy.

Not so handy if both full! That'll be around 68Kg (150 lbs/11 stone) combined weight! Pretty unwieldy even if the wheels don't come off under the strain!

My Wastemaster has a ledge and bungee straps for attaching toilet cassette, but when full and weighing in at 40Kg on it's own, that's more than enough to try and manoeuvre, without adding extra 18Kg of toilet tank! I'm no one's idea of a weakling, but there are limits to practicality.

Yes, I know, you don't have to fill them up before emptying, but I bet most of us do get close!

We use a standard black waste water canister & empty it daily: I can carry it no problem. The Aldi one would take up too much room in our MH.
But a litre of liquid weighs a kg, so I can see thatís a lot of stuff for you to trundle, Monty15. Hadnít thought of that.

I use a simple folding trolley to carry my toilet cassette. Takes up very little room and doesn't weigh much either.

Not that much of a bargain as you can normally buy it for around £525 or fitted for £615.
They have some more caravan stuff the following Sunday so it will be interesting to see what else comes up

Snap.

If the route to the emptying point is smooth, I piggy back the cassete onto the Wastemaster, empty the cassette, and fill the other.
One trip; two jobs done.

Our cassette has its own wheel and pull out handle, so I just pull it along if just emptying that.
