What are membersí experiences of these? Are they worth the (considerable) cost?

I would say no. Because we have different weight duvets depending on season. You could end up too warm in Summer.

I've just purchased a used pair this week actually which are in absolute excellent condition for £160 for the two Duvalay sleeping bags which were advertised online. We wanted the brown and cream stripe pattern which don't come up very often but as they were advertised at a location just over 30 miles away we went and bought them. We have been searching for a pair for quite while now because I have only ever heard good reports about them which have been mentioned on this forum several times. However, it will be helpful if you watch this YouTube video as it should help you to decide if the Duvalay is worth the money or not.

Here

EDIT: there are a pair of Duvalay sleeping bags for sale on the 'Free Adverts' section for a good price but the seller lives too far away from where you live.

Yes, yes and yes!
We bought ours in 2009 and are still using them, though we have replaced the duvets a couple of times (you can use any single duvets of your choice, so could even use different tog ratings for different seasons if you could be bothered!). They have been used on average 12 weeks a year during the last 14 years! The only negative is that the zips have failed on a couple of the covers we've had, meaning we've had to replace the full covers, which aren't cheap either.

Apart from the sewing of the material, I bet the zips had to be custom made as I doubt you would be able to get those off the shelf.

You can get very long zips online for upholstery.
It doesnít matter, Iím just saying that if you find duvalays too expensive or you just donít like the material, it is possible to have one by making it. Compromise - buy one & use it to copy the pattern for the second one?

We've been using duvalays in the caravan for a long time.

To make sure we had all seasons covered, we bought a couple of the cheapest double duvets (of different weights) we could find, cut then in half lengthways, hemmed the cut ends, and use those in the duvalay.

Am I missing something? We use ordinary sheets and duvets.

Yes, you are probably missing a good night's sleep. That's what other folks say after having slept in a Duvalay sleeping bag. However, you can just buy the roll out mattress to go under the sheet which is a cheaper option and probably just as good. The benefit of the Duvalay sleeping bag is that it rolls up without having to store an extra duvet cover and sheet.
