We have never stayed there, but we have heard the municipal in Beaumont Sur Sarthe is very nice.
If you could travel a bit south of Le Mans, the campsite at Sonzay (Camping l'Arada a Parc) is very nice. We've stayed there twice en route south. It has 12 reviews on here, sorry I still can't figure out how to do the link.

Hi -

Stayed at Beaumont sur sarthe last year and plan on doing so again this year.

The site is riverside with large pitches and immaculate shower block. There is a supermarket in town (walking distance if required) for supplies and fuel.
If i recall correctly a riverside pitch with EHU and a total of 5 people (all charged as adults) was 24.00

The site is very popular with with British and dutch over nighters heading to the Vendee and beyond.

Guy.

It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.

I'd also recommend Beaumont - have stayed there a few times. I wrote in a review on another website that it has one of the best Block Sanitaires I have ever encountered.

Only minor drawback is a slightly tricky entrance for a big unit - but I managed it with my 7m x 2.5m 'van.
