We are first time campers to Italy, looking for a lovely site for our 7 and 4 year olds around the Liguria region, for a few nights.
We will be travelling back from Umbria to Calais, with a few more stopovers in France.
we don't want to be on a small pitch, I can't bear being squashed in!
So would rather a bit more space and peace.
Any suggestions?

The only time I camped in Liguria was in the sixties, wild camping, on a beach for a week ... keeping bottles twenty five metres off-shore tied to a rock, to keep the drinks cool!
Don't think we'd get away with that nowadays!

We used "Camping Bella Vista" near Albenga for an overnight between Venice and Provence and I'd have been happy staying for longer.

Those were the days! We used to camp at Camping St Anna, between Alassio and Albenga, during the sixties. Right on the beach but very, very crowded. We didn't care though - we loved it!

We have used Eurocamping Calvisio at Finale Ligure the last two trips. Whilst it is not our usual type of site it does have some good qualities such as courtesy bus to town and beach. The pool and restaurant/bar area is very clean and tidy. In 2013 when we were there in high season the entertainment was well attended by families. We would use it again as a stop-over. Noli, along the coast is delightful.

Avoid Imperia - the campsites there are expensive, tiny and run down. We were very disappointed in the overall deal we got.
