I like the Netherlands. Great if you like cycling.

Last year I stayed on a decent site on the edge of Groningen. Lengthy, but level, walk through parkland to the city. Plenty of good shops, pubs, museums etc..

Amsterdam has a very good site - Gaasper Camping, which has easy metro links into the city.

For somewhere different, I've also stayed at Enkhuizen - a picture postcard village north of Amsterdam. Has a large outdoor museum and there used to be sailing barge trips on the Zuiderzee.

Two drifters off to see the world.

June - Northumberland.
June - Dundee
Sept - Somewhere in Europe

We have just returned from a first camping trip to the Netherlands and loved it. As mentioned above Enkhuizen has a great Zuiderzee museum with indoor and outdoor parts that will take a day to see. I would think that the country is full of places to canoe, there seemed to be water wherever we went.
If you have bikes take them, it is absolutely made for cycling with dedicated paths everywhere and, of course, it is very flat.

Further south we like Koningshof in Rijnsburg, been there quite a few times over the last 20 years (and again in May) but were slightly biased as we worked there in the late 90s.
Its fairly close to the coast, near Lieden and midway between Den Haag and Amsterdam so well placed if you want to take the train to the bigger cities but as you'll have bikes its also well placed for the North Sea route and the sand dunes.

If you have children duinrell would be well worth a look at

Don't miss Middelburg in Zeeland. From Stadscamping there it's 5 minutes by bike to the town centre.

Delftse Hout is nice, easy to walk/cycle into Delft from there and good public transport from Delft to other places in the area.

Second for Delfst Hout. Fifteen minute walk into the town. Mainline station for a trip to Amsterdam. Park and lake next to the site, don't know about canoeing there, but I am sure the site will know. Also navigable river runs between the site and town centre.

We are in Middelburg at the moment, Camping De Vlaschaard, a superb small site, incredibly friendly, and a 5 minute bike ride into town. We have never been here before and came across it almost by accident a couple of days ago. It is on the ACSI website but I think was added too late for the book - - we are paying 19 euros all in. Free wi-fi too.

We were at delftse hout for 23 days in April / May .
Excellent location, public transport is not a problem but can be costly . So many places to visit and so much to see and do .
This is our 6 th visit . We usually meet the camping and caravanning rally there .
Good luck.

I don't want to sound rude - just curious - why would Camping &Caravanning Club members spend 23 days only at Delft and not move on to other parts of the country?

A vote for Zeeland. Cadzand area excellent.

Also Venlo area is good on the German border.

Try Tilburg, again really town and nice surrounding area.
