I've never been, but there are five sites in Poland offered by the ACSI card, so you could try them first, and then have a read through all the previous posts about Poland, here.

Never camped in Poland but have driven through it a lot. Whereabouts in the top? Baltic coast? Kaliningrad border?
Now, if you were going over the border into Lithuania... I lived there for 12 years and heading back for a holiday next week.

We spent several weeks touring in Poand 4 years ago. We found sites a plenty, have added the sites and reviews on here. At one of the first sites we visited we were given a book of Polish campsites, listed something like 60 campsites throughout the country.

Under 3.5 tonnes is fine but if you are over 4 tonne you need a GoBox - worth researching as its a bit of a wind up. If you dont get the box you can still travel but only on B type roads.

The larger sites tended to be older with slightly dated facilities, we did find some smaller family run sites that were reasonably priced with decent facilities.

We founds roads were well maintained, plenty of good A roads, no traffic delays and friendly and helpful people.
Would not hesistate to go back.

I have seen that they have canals and a extremely old boat lift but cant remember where.

There is an abandoned canal in the North off the river Venta. There are also canals in the Klaipėda region. This used to be Memel before the war.
Lithuania is worth a visit. Main roads are good but secondary roads can be dirt/gravel. Lots of lakes and forests and castles, lots of history. Vilnius is a lovely city.
The regions bordering Poland are Suvalkija and Dzūkija. Vilnius isn't far from Poland and Kaunas too. Interestingly parts of historical Suvalkija are in Poland (Suwalki). There is a Polish minority in Lithuania and a Lithuanian minority in Poland.
Both Poland and Lithuania were independent States that became one commonwealth under a Lithuanian King. Lithuanian territory originally stretched from the Baltic to the Black Sea.
You should visit if you are there. The food is good. They have a very old beer making tradition and there is a lot to see and do. Most youngsters will speak English in big towns and the tourism infrastructure is quite well developed.
Alas, I don't know about the boat lift but I would guess it is in Klaipėda.

This you tube video may give you an idea of the sights in Lithuania. It is a song by Andrius Mamontovas. I was at his concert last night in Dundalk for midsummer.

Hi
We spent five weeks in Poland with our caravan last year. We do fly to Poznan regularly as my wife's father was born north of there and have family to visit and have seen the roads undergoing a massive transformation over the past few years and there continue to be massive improvements.

For example, we drove from Elblag, where the afore-mentioned boat lift is, to Sopot and the entire section was one long roadworks. By now they will finished and a very quick dual carriageway in place.

The best place to find campsites is on the PFCC

You can purchase the map mentioned from them. We were given it for free at Sopot.

The Baltic coast is beautiful and worth a visit but the tourist season is very short up there. In mid May the sites were open, but empty, except on a holiday weekend. If you go to Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia (the tri- cities) the museums are fantastic. The Polish migration museum in Gdynia is one of the best museums I have ever visited. Equally impressive is the Solidarity one in Gdansk.

We entered Poland through Frankfurt an der Oder, travelled to Czarnkow north of Poznan, Torun (Copernicus' town), Masurian lakes, Russian border, Elblag, Gdansk at Baltic coast, Szczecin and back into Germany.

I must mention as well that Krakow is one of the best cities we have visited (we haven't camped there) and so is Wroclaw.

Let me know if you want further information.

Hi
The weather up on the Baltic coast begins to turn autumnal quite early in September- hence the short tourist season but should still be in the 20sC during the day. Further inland the weather should be much higher, as high as 30 in Poznan and Krakow.
