We have a crossing booked with BF for early July and have been keeping an eye on the timetables in case it's cancelled, as their last announcement stated that some sailings may not go ahead.
Having looked today there are several sailings on the Portsmouth to Caen crossing no longer on the timetable. Fortunately ours is still there.
Just thought I'd let people know that it might be advisable to check the timetable regularly. I'm not sure if sailings on other crossings have been cancelled as I don't know what the usual schedules are.

Not sure if they are related, but they have just cancelled the order for a new ferry for that route https://www.niferry.co.uk/brittany-ferries-honfleur-cancelled/

Brittany Ferries is putting together a new timetable to resume passenger services - but to start with that will be with only four of their twelve ships, because for obvious reasons passenger numbers are not high.

Further news from Brittany Ferries is that they will have eight passenger ships operating by mid July (plus a freighter) but the remaining three of their twelve ships ships will not sail at all this summer.

Although we've booked, BF have said they will only start operating passenger services if FCO advice changes, and the quarantine rule is dropped. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

"The Govt is due to announce a review to its quarantine rules on Monday. The mood music sounds like travel to most traditional European destinations will soon open up, certainly by Aug. By that I mean the travel ban lifted and no quarantine on return"

FCO advice is the same though.

A lot of people are implying it is a ban, it isn't, it is advice from the FCO not mandatory.

You can travel - if you wish. Those who don't can stay at home until the advice changes. Those who do can just book their crossing and head off. Check insurance - some policies are valid, some are not, but there is not a blanket 'one size fits all' answer to the insurance issues. It's far better to check with your own insurer to get a definitive answer in every case.

Val you have hit the nail on the head about insurance. The Caravan club has said to check your insurance as a lot of companies have said coronavirus is not covered.

My understanding is that if you travel today to France or Spain it is against the advise from the FO so your travel insurance would not be valid.

That is true but not for all insurers, but that doesn't make it a ban, it is up to the individual to decide whether or not to heed the advice given by the FCO,there is no ban.
