Still says on the CMC website that no new policies are being issued yet, but wondered whether anyone had heard whether and/or when you can get cover again. We had an annual policy that expired in May - we didn't renew then as it seemed pointless paying for cover when we wouldn't be going anywhere! Cover through the CCC is available but the rescue and recovery doesn't seem as comprehensive (eg. recovery of dogs is at the recovery driver's discretion but they will help you make alternative arrangements - whatever they may be).

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

CMC live chat is working - I used it on another matter - so should be possible for you to get an answer from them that way.

I emailed the CAMC about this and still await a reply.

I guess if they donít offer anything by August I will find something else that will at least get my car and caravan towed to a garage.

We've just gone with DriverGuardian which says that they cover the caravan/trailer for breakdown too.

Driver Guardian UK and European breakdown cover

We needed a replacement for our ADAC cover, which we've had for about ten years, but which wasn't renewed this year.

Thank you for the link. It looks a good choice and almost all the reviews I can find are complimentary. And its one single breakdown / recovery policy covering both UK and Europe, which is something that the Caravan &Motorhome Club has never been willing to provide.

Thanks Netherton. We'll never know how good or bad it is until we break down somewhere! Fingers crossed that like a lot of others we'll never use our breakdown insurance.

It's interesting that at least one of the less complimentary reviews refers to an incident which wasn't a breakdown but an accident!

Green Flag Europlus is another annual breakdown / recovery policy covering both Uk and Europe, but It only allows overseas trips of 30 days maximum within a total of 90 days per year overseas - so would not suit you, ValA. But at £80 a year it is a real bargain for anyone going overseas for shorter visits, as it includes full UK cover too.

Does it cover older vehicles? The only bit I could find that mentioned age of vehicle was for personal cover (not sure why that should affect personal??) Our motorhome is 18.

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
