Hi All, well finally got the Covid-19 delayed passport in my hand, so we're all good for our Portsmouth-Caen July 19 ferry, then onward to les Sables d'olonne with caravan + 3 kids.
Got some queries .... anyone over in France now? what are visitor number like, compared to usual?
Any hints or tips?
Looking on real-time webcam from Tourism LesSables d'olonne - the beach looks busy .... any social distancing in force, cafe etiquette, etc etc
Our campsite is a Yelloh Village, and says everything open, activities all outdoor .....

Cheers Paul

Sites I have been to are not busy, in Dordogne, Leucate and in Haute Vienne. restaurants have moved there tables a bit to 1 metre, Noticed today that less people are wearing masks but there are screens in all shops and supermarket tills. on a beach it is easy to distance.

wow which yelloh! site are you staying at in les sables?

i stayed at la litoral a few years ago but thats a sandaya now.

we have been to Les Brunelles in longeville-sur-mer for the past 2 years and have booked again for this august.

they are very acitive on social media (facebook) and have kept thier followers informed as to what measures they are taking and whets still open.

they even post live videos of the campsite.

basically everything is still open but there are limits on the number of people in the pool area for example. at les brunelles though the pool area is huge so the linit is 1000 people over 2 pool areas. other MS vacance sites, for example the one in les sables have far lower numbers.

looking at the videos etc it looks like there are not so many people at the site but its not the school holidays yet. it looked like there was 1 touring caravan in the area we stay in with ours.

looking back to last year when we were there the beach 'les conches' was deserted most days and the beach 'plage du veilon' was so big that if you walked far enough along or accessed it via the forest behind it, and sat by the estuary there were huge spaces between the people.

i think that its coing to be safer in the vendee than cornwall.

i dont often go in the bar at les brunelles anyway as i prefer to eat and sit by the caravan then take a walk over to watch the performances later on. they are excersising the same kind of measures that Yelloh! are.

screens at the bar, masks in all indoor areas, visors worn by the staff.

i think if you observe the rules and go to the less popular beaches you will be ok.

Hi. We're currently at Camping Bel in La Tranche sur Mer. Most people are wearing masks in shops and as others have said there are screens at tills, hand sanitizer, and cleaning stations for trolleys. Social distancing isn't as strict as in UK and I have found that a bit frustrating. We've found it easy to socially distance on the beach, which apart from our pitch, is probably the safest place! The site is very quiet which means they're not having to impose any restrictions on pool use except you have to give your details if using the jacuzzi. We had to read and sign all the covid rules, but most applied to things like having to clean the pool cue and balls between use and other restrictions in the bar area. Sunbeds are cleaned between use. The toilet blocks are quiet and very clean with hand sanitizer provided. They were really pleased to see us as they usually have a lot of uk clients via Eurocamp, but they're not operating at the moment. They said about half the site is Eurocamp, so that's a large proportion of empty pitches.
