I don't think you should cancel as the Nationwide account with insurance is no longer available to new customers (as far as I know) so by cancelling, it may not be available to you at all.

You can still get a Flexplus account which includes travel insurance as a new member.

Most packaged bank accounts have steadily had the 'benefits' pruned back for new accounts, whereas continuous accounts have maintained what the had originally. So I wouldn't cancel the account.

Generally, long standing packaged accounts are superior to current offerings from many banks

N/Wide flex plus terms are the same for new accounts as they are for existing.
If you don't intend travelling abroad you need to consider whether the other benefits offered by the account are worth the monthly cost especially if you have to pay extra for age and existing medical problems.

This is definitely the case for Nationwide (NW).

Sometime ago when the rumour of NW to become a bank started to be circulated, there was an influx of new accounts being opened by people who thought they could benefit from the fallout, like it did with Abbey National when they became a bank.

NW swiftly disqualified accounts opened before a certain date from benefiting from any fallout in the event they did become a bank.

That was possibly 23 years ago!
I have had a N/Wide account for 20+ years and the terms and conditions change regularly according to financial constraints but they are the same for new or old accounts.

I'm still wavering on travel insurance after having to threaten legal action against stay sure to get a pay-out on cancelation due to illness
and finding out that any medical problems I might get abroad were covered by a reciprocal agreements with our NHS, and still is with the new GHIC card. The only need would be repatriation and the motorhome insurance covers the camper quite honestly my last quote of 630.00 annual policy multi trip ltd 35days any one trip (due to health issues which are still covered by the GHIC) I can get myself home cheaper than that.
Already told beloved if I die abroad dump the ashes in the nearest beauty spot

Hi, It is of course impossible to compare like for like with so many variables however,it may be worth you looking at Nationwide Flex Plus as even with age and existing condition extras what I pay is nowhere near the amount you paid and also comes with other benefits, such as breakdown cover.

We opened our account back in 2015 after Stay Sure quoted 50% more for European travel insurance than the Flex Plus, with all its benefits, including Worldwide Travel & Cruise cover, cost me.

The only reason I keep my Flexplus account is for the travel insurance it works out far cheaper for us as we have a joint account so the cover is for both of us, no other insurer comes anywhere near it.
None of the other benefits provided by the account are of any use to us.

I thought NW flex+ travel insurance covered the family anyway and did not need to be a joint account. At least it was when I took out mine.

It does, the point I was making was just that, whereas if I had other insurers it cost me more to cover both of us if we travelled separately.

Must admit never checked my previous policy as to whether we could travel separately
But still wondering what any of them cover if the EHIC/GHIC covers you including any on going illness the camper insurance comes with breakdown and repatriation as standard and now I have checked also includes repatriation of driver up to a certain limits, not sure I'm brave enough not to take travel insurance but don't feel I would be risking much.
We have a NW account will have a look at switching it to a flexi

Be aware that if you have travel insurance provided by another provider, whether you know it or not it, can lead to complications in the event of a claim, both insurers will argue as to what proportion of any claims they are responsible for.

as with staysure I have become very cynical about insurance companies when they tell me they do free legal cover I ask if it can be used to get them to honour a claim

Just had a very interesting conversation with Nationwide insurance services and been told I can not have their world wide or even European travel cover for my existing medical problems this includes no cardiovascular cover as I have had stents fitted 20 Years ago, apparently the triple bypass is fine, stents are the problem this also then excludes Diabetes as this is connected to cardio vascular problems as well according to them.

When I pointed out I knew older people than me were covered (or thought they were) by paying an extra fee the lady said not if they have stents fitted we are a low risk insurance company and we consider that to be high risk, I did again point out they were 20 years ago and she reiterated as far as they were concerned I had stents and that was a problem. so back to plan B what ever that is
