Will we get to France this year, do you think? Pure speculation, I know, but it seems a long way off at the moment, when considering the covid situation, border closures and potential vaccinations at some point in the future...

Will you only consider going once you've received the 2 parts of the vaccine? It might even be a pre-requisite for travel. Will we be welcomed, or looked upon with suspicion? Will medical insurance policies include cover for covid?

I know nobody can answer any of this. Just am feeling a bit oppressed and fed up, being home-bound and the snow and ice doesn't help matters.

I'm so glad we decided to go to France last summer. It was touch and go and we nearly didn't, but we had a good and much-needed quiet break and stayed safe. I can't wait for things to improve so we can go again. We've booked 2 sites - the first stay potentially in June - but I think that's being optimistic.

Has anyone else made provisional plans to go, or are you waiting to see how it all pans out?

I have 3 weeks booked in June, carried over from 2020, and 3 weeks in September.
I have to pay the balance in April but am waiting till then to see how things are progressing.
My N/Wide travel ins covers for any Covid related health issues but if the borders are open they won't cover for cancellation.

We've got two weeks in August booked. They're carried over from last year so we'll have to see what BF do if we're not allowed to travel. I'm happy to defer again if needs be. (Well, not happy because not getting to France but not that bothered about getting the money back. Payment was so long ago it'll feel like a free holiday by the time it happens.)

My personal view is there is less chance this year than last year as all countries are taking it a lot more seriously now. We did south France last year in august and have booked Spain for this august; both tunnel and site offering free cancellation so no risk.
I wonít have had vaccines by then as I am in my 40s, and European countries themselves have said it will be September before their high risk groups are done. That coupled with new variants and extra vigilance leads me to think it less likely this year than last year... just hope Iím wrong 😃

Weíve got June-July (tunnel) and August-September (Brittany Ferries) booked, both using credit from last year. If we canít go weíll just move them on to next year. Everything crossed we can at least go in August though - we decided not to go last summer as we decided the 14 day quarantine on our return wouldnít be fair on the dogs.

I have a week booked in France in September, no deposit required as the camp site itself is apprehensive about travel restrictions.

I have not booked my tunnel crossing yet due to the van not being ready.

I am likely to pay more and book the fully refundable tickets.

I shall make sure the dog gets his rabies booster later this year.

Fingers firmly crossed that the trip can go ahead, however it is no big deal if it is cancelled.

liddís, you are asking the same question as the rest of us and as you answer yourself, we donít know.

But yes we remain optimistic and intend to book Le Shuttle when near the expiry of our current voucher, but more in hope than expectation.

U.K. trip(s) - possible / likely. - 50/70%

French trip(s) - Hmmm. 🤞🤞🤞 10/15%

Hope springs eternal.

Nobody knows what is to happen. I started to through some plans about just before the latest lockdown. So now I've given up.
We will all just have to wait and see.

Yes. I reckon its having no idea how long the 'wait and see' period might be that's weighing heavily on my at the moment and making me feel a bit gloomy.

Home and essential travel only is beginning to feel a bit too claustrophobic, despite agreeing with the rationale.

We got there & back last year without any issues, not as confident about this summer but itís a way off yet, need something to look forward to 🤞🙏

Campsite at Frejus, booked for 14 nights for the end of June, deposit paid although I doubt we will get there with the way things are.

By now I would have booked and paid for the ferry along with five Premiere Classe hotel over night stops, but have held back on that.

Itís a right old pita to be fair, we have not had a holiday since 2019, why anyone bothered in 2020 remains a mystery to me, as I would not ever want to go to a campsite and have to put up with all the COVID-19 restrictions.

But each to there own I guess.

Fingers firmly crossed for all of us who have planned to go camping in Europe later this year - we definitely need something to look forward to after the miserable year we have had!

Husband has had first vaccine dose as CEV and I'm in group 9 so fingers crossed...hopeful for September. Thinking about booking if sites will accept a reservation on flexible terms...only issue being that one of my clients MAY have a major event on in the UK some time in September but we just don't know when!
Tentative plans made for a UK break in May...think all the UK hotspots will be 10 times worse/busier this summer than last :(

I have a credit note from a site we were supposed to be staying at last year but I havenít booked a ferry yet as I am beginning to seriously doubt that we will be able to go.

I would probably be a bit more optimistic if we were going in September but my annual leave is in June this year and I think thatís probably too soon.
