We are going to have to apply for a new Crit Air sticker for our car (same car - new registration number). As it's 4 or 5 years since we got the last one, I have been looking at how to do this. Beware! There are some real cowboys out there. Going through the official channels shouldn't cost more than about 4 or so.

Would anyone notice if we just continues using the exiting one I wonder?

We'll need a new one for the new 'van when we get it. The old sticker went off with the old 'van, but it was so faded you could scarcely read it anyway.

It's the same story with the Umwelte Plackette for Germany too. It should only cost about 6.

It would be useful to post links to the official sites in threads like this to help out others.

Thanks for the reminder, having changed the moho last year we hadn't ordered new Crit Air/Umwelte Plackette stickers - all done now.

I stuck my sticker onto clear plastic then cut around it & put it in an old tax disc holder. That way it can be stuck on when I go to France & it saves getting a new one if windscreen needs replacing.

Likewise, sensible advice especially if your windscreen requires replacing when you're abroad.

Save the invoice that you get when you apply for it as this can be used as proof of purchase if your windscreen needs replacing while you're there

Umwelte Plackette, ordered from the official source in Berlin (per my link above)on 3rd Jan, dropped through the letterbox today. I call that very good service for a little under 7.

Hopefully the Crit Air sticker will arrive soon too!

The Crit Air sticker arrived today, so that's 10 days from being ordered. I'd recommend anyone who doesn't have either of these stickers to order them at least a month before they're due to travel to allow for delays.

I ordered my Crit Air from the link in my earlier post, the cost was less than 5.

Crit Air sticker is equivalent to the clean air zones in London and other cities. Motorways are exempt, even if they go right through the city ( e.g.Lyon)

Since they have been required, some few years ago, we have never been into an area where it was necessary, preferring the countryside campsites.

But for 5, it seems daft not to avail yourself of it, just in case

Likewise, we've never been to an area that required one but given that we make our trip up as we go along and never know where we're going to end up stumping up less than 5 just in case didn't seem to be too much of an expense especially compared to the fine.

Lived in France (Dordogne) for 3 and a half years and have never needed a Crit Air sticker. As Stuart pointed out, motorways through cities are exempt - and as we've found out lately main routes from motorways to hospitals in cities are also exempt.

Cars displaying a Crit Air sticker round here are even rarer than electric cars.
