We are staying with family at Camping Nobis díAnjou in early July - they are flying into Tours and we are driving from Sees. Can anyone suggest somewhere suitable to meet for lunch for four adults and three children aged 6-10? Will also need decent parking as we will be in a 6.7m motorhome.

Very near to the airport is Royal Buffet Tours - an Asian 'buffet' restaurant. There is also a nearby Japanese restaurant, and another Asian restaurant on the same road from the roundabout near the airport.

Not gourmet food, but what about 'Flunch' which are usually adjacent to a supermarket with plenty of parking. They work on a buffet basis - order the main item, and the vegetables etc are help yourself, so you can go back again and again if you wish. There's usually something to suit everyone, and the starters and desserts are usually good too. ~There are two alternatives in Tours. A bit further away from the airport, so depends on your arrival time.

Or in Saumur, the Crescendo restaurant in L'Eclerc - our local one is very good, others have been variable.

Normally I wouldn't recommend this sort of place, but sometimes finding a restaurant to suit a larger group at lunchtime, especially with easy parking.

Ironned, I wasnít sure of your plan. Are you taking the motorhome to the airport to meet the family and then looking for lunch there, or are they coming in a hire car to meet you at the campsite? You have good suggestions from ValA for lunch near the lunch near the airport option, and there are several restaurants within walking range of your campsite for the other option. But I wasnít clear about your mention of Saumur - which is 50 miles away from the airport. Can you please clarify the plan - and the timing.

Nothing wrong with centre commercial restaurants. It is where the locals eat & reasonably priced so suits us. Look on Eleclerc & Auchan website store locators to find one most convenient for you. Best best bet is to get there bang on midday as by 1pm they can be packed.

Thanks Netherton - just mentioned Saumur as the furthest point west really, although as they will have had a very early start and Iím not sure our son in law has driven in France before Iíd like to avoid unnecessary driving for them. We would prefer not to go right to Tours but maybe to meet halfway. The commercial centre idea is probably a good one - Iíve seen there is a carrefour market at Azay Le Rideau which has a Paul boulsngerie which could be an option! They canít check into their static until 4pm, which means we may also need somewhere for the kids to burn off a bit of energy !

The campsite itself has a pretty decent restaurant, and right next door is a big open parking area, where you could both park up before checking in, if necessary. You might be able to use the campsite pool even if you canít check in, or there is plenty of green space outside the campsite where the kids could play and let off steam, walks along the river etc. There is a supermarket on the edge of town too, I think itís a SuperU where you could use some of your spare time to stock up, maybe, before parking up.
