Does any one know the current cost of refilling a 10kg BP Gas light bottle? Can't find the cost on any Homebase site.

That seems to work out cheaper per kg than refilling a Calor lite bottle.

Yep, 3.50 per kg for Calor Lite and 2.90 per kg for BP Gas in 10kg bottles. The problem with the change over is the cost of the bottles and you would have to use a lot of gas to recover the bottle 'deposit' unless you can find any on ebay etc at a reasonable rate. I have been keeping an eye open at our local recycle centre but the guys there say they have never had on in as far as they know but they do get plenty of 6kg calor bottles that they will pass on for a 'donation' as they are not allowed to put them in the steel scrap.

I noticed a self-fill bottle reviewed in this month's C.C. mag.   It holds 15.5 kg of gas, and is standardised for fitting the gas station pump connexions for LPG vehicles.  Overfill protection is provided.  The gas works out considerably cheaper, but it costs a whopping 150 to buy.  I also wonder:

(1) Would there be any argument at any gas stations regarding taking a bottle to refill it?

(2) Would the average caravan locker be large enough to fit this size of bottle into it.  Fitting the 10 kg BP Gaslight bottles into our 2006 Coachman is tight.

Bertie.

I just bought one today from Homebase which was 50.99
She said refills are 29.99 and you get 12.50 back if you cash in an empty bottle.
Se did say that they don't sell the regulators until BBQ season starts!

I'm quite impressed with it actually. It is light, quite a bit smaller than the 13Kg and you can see what is in it. The regulator is also a lot easier to use.

EDIT: just looked at the calor website and their 13Kg bottle is quite a bit cheaper at 1.96/Kg but the 6Kg is more at 3.33/Kg so the 10Kg BP fits somewhere inbetween and the difference in price is easily worth it for me (13Kg is much to big and heavy)

I recently changed one at Homebase and they seemed not aware of any changes. I asked if there were any plans not to stock in the future and again a blank look.

A wider distribution network would be useful.

There is a local stockist in Wakefield cheaper than Homebase (if your local to that area). Its called Lumbs.
