Many, if not most CL/CSs (5 van sites) have electric hook-up, the majority 10 or 16 amp, and generally for £15-£20 per night. Also their prices are usually the same whatever the time of year. Some of these 'basic' sites also have shower and toilet facilities (though we tend to use our own, especially at the moment).

Yes, we are just back from a CS. Lovely site, lovely owners EHU, showers if you want them. Just £15 pn. I will do my report on the site as soon as I get time to sit down and think.

Jeff, have a look at Park Dean for availability as their prices haven't increased that much over the past year.    For example, 7 nights in Skeggy is showing at £240 for 7 nights including the leisure passes. (don't nick my booking)

That would be way out of my price bracket, but then I don't think it would be our kind of site anyway. The mention of "leisure passes" is a giveaway.

Would not touch that kind of site with a bargepole! the most we will pay is £20 per night and hope usually to pay a lot less.

For a fully serviced pitch with water and waste water connections we will pay up to £35pn as it also gives OH a break from carting around water. After all she is on holiday also. We have on one occasion paid nearly £40 pn, but never again. Unfortunately one of the drawbacks of having medical issues.

The site we went on near Weston-Super-Mare was fully serviced and had metered electricity. We paid under £20 a night for the first two weeks in July a couple of years ago, and the electricity only cost us around £3 for the whole two weeks. It was a lovely site and I left a review of it on here at the time. No way I'd pay £35 a night even if it came with full waiter service.

We always try to reduce lifting and carrying as much as possible, as we are both in our 70s and both have back problems. We don't usually go for fully serviced pitches, the W-S-M site was an exception, but we do usually go for sites that have toilets and showers, and use these whenever possible to save on carting water and waste containers any more than is absolutely essential.

we have just come back from Cornwall, on a cc site just outside of Perranporth 11 nights over the bank holiday weekend and school holidays and it was only £25 per night, with the vat saving i think the price is about £20 now (off peak) i think that's a great price for a cracking site.

I think the sites in cornwall are far cheaper than the site we normally go to, The saving actually pays the difference in fuel

We went to a CL near Chester, £12 per night with EHU, and a really lovely one, Whitehouse Farm at Loggerheads near Market Drayton, £15 with fantastic views and a lovely owner. No reviews yet, no idea why not, but I will add one soon. We don't go to sites without EHU but use our own facilities.

I'll be keeping Whitehouse Farm in mind, and look out for your review.
We only usually use our own facilities overnight for the reasons mentioned, but to be fair we actually spend very little time on the site unless the weather's really bad. We are usually off out exploring soon after breakfast and rarely return until evening so using our own facilities would be impossible most of the time. If we are relaxing on site during the day however, we do tend to use the site facilities unless rain is bucketing down.

One of my fishing mates on a site at Portland.. Its a small family owned site, He says they were falling over themselves to make sure he was happy. Recons it well within our collective price range. He keeps a boat at Portland marina, so goes down often..

Yes it's certainly more expensive. I expect everything is up on cost everywhere, especially with so many staycationing.

Hi

I have been making a note of my regular holiday, when i take the grand-kids to the coast.
And yes some have added 25% to the cost, even on next years prices, and to be honest.
They will be crying when everyone goes abroad again, and us who do and have used them regular will say stuff you.
And shop else where.

Its fine to be greedy, but they will suffer in the long run for being greedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
