Just thought of something. Under the Consumer Act 1974 they are obliged to give you a breakdown of how they arrived at the 5 penalty fee. This fee may be illegal and unlawful at Common Law, Statute and recent Consumer regulations. It would be interesting if any one challenged them on this. For more info go to http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/

Why waste your time on something like this. The C&CC have done it as a deterrent to stop us being harrassed when we are packing away. You know what its like with a family, trying to assemble them. I too oppose any further charges, like you, but if it was convenient for me to arrive early, then I would pay and go down town or to the beach for a coffee.

It's never been a problem for me to arrive on site after 12 noon, so the 5 fee doesn't bother me... I assume it's just a token deterrent, so that sites don't have campers & caravanners leaving and arriving at the same time. On some rural sites situated on narrow lanes, that could be a big problem!...

No problem for me.12  noon is plenty earlier enough.

The 5 is probably to discourage rather than generate income.

We should be gratefull "check in " is not later in the day.

But it is still a penalty and it is your money!  Doesn't really bother me any longer as we dumped the C & CC because of snotty nose wardens and scruffy sites but I thought I would pass this on anyway.

Whats more damage barton have fully adjustable showers !!!!!QUALITY

We have been to the Adgestone site on the I.O.W and to avoid all the traffic had to leave Swindon early in the morning to get an early ferry. We got to the site at about 9:30 and to me it was money well spent as we could get set up and let the kids play whilst we were doing it. To me we saved a whole day or at least a good part of it and we would never quibble over the fiver charged.

And we did'nt see any snotty nosed wardens or scruffy toilets but we did meet a bunch of very helpful and friendly wardens who were always busy cleaning etc etc.

Should of gone to cornwall where we went a mile of single track road some passing places that were ok with car but no good with van on.  2 of us going home and one went first without van to stop any traffic, site people kindly pulled his van out for him.

So true Ethel,  it is a bit tight but we turned left out of the site and then left again , it was a lot easier and had a few passing places, lovely site though.

We don't do ultra-early starts or middle-of-the-night driving so not arriving before 12 would not be a problem for us.  I think the earliest we ever managed to get to a site was 1.30 pm.

We are CC members and there are some sites where you are requested not to arrive before 12 as the site approach is narrow.  It also allows others to leave and vacate the pitches without having to rush, and does not tie up the wardens with booking you in while they are trying to clean the toilet block.

However there is no early arrival fee.  But if too many people were to ignore the request then I could see they might consider imposing one as a deterrent.

If the C&CC were forced to drop the early arrival fee. They would just start to turn campers away until 12. Result bedlam.

As its a club technically its run by the members (thats us), so we are the ones imposing the fee on ourselves.

Could this 5 fee be used towards the actual site such as flower beds hanging baskets instead of going straight into the coffers of head office.  kiev

We are members and I wouldn't mind paying the early arrival fee if we got there before midday.

In th past two years we have stayed at Winchcombe, Wolverley, Norwich, Scarborough, Kingsbury, Cambridge, Canterbury, Weston Super Mare and Veryan and have yet to find any facilities which were not immaculate. As for wardens and assistants I cannot praise them highly enough.
