Dandy Designer, 5 berth   £ 1,000.00

Dandy Designer, 5 berth

Location:   Nottinghamshire      Added:   11/07/2019      Price: £ 1,000.00

Manufacturer:  Dandy  Sleeps:  5  Year:  Unknown

Early 90s, 5 birth, excellent condition for age, very spacious when set up but easy to store and tow. (can be stored outside with no ill-effect but also fits in a garage) the 5th birth converts to two seats and a table; the seats have extra backrests in the original material that make the seats more comfortable. It has two double beds, one converts to a sofa with high back-rest (more comfy than my sofa at home). Dandies are made with a galvanised steel frame and Thermabond roof (double skin PVC with sponge insulation between) so don’t rot like caravans and canvas units can do. It is ‘winterised’ meaning side walls are also double skin with the insulation between (I think all dandy roofs are like this). The PVC is like the material on ‘curtain-side’ lorries. This means they can be folded away wet if necessary without risk of mould or mill-dew. The double skin makes them warmer on cooler nights but also helps to keep them cooler in the sun. They really are very hard-wearing. This is my second Dandy, the first was an early 80’s model that was still in great condition when I sold it.

The previous owner was a retired cabinet-maker and made a bespoke solid wood cupboard that is much better than the original, he also made an extra work-top to extend the drainer which gives a bit more space for preparing food. There are two butane bottles stored in a locker box at the front to run the 2 burner stove/ grill and the fridge (that can also be plugged-in if connected to electric hook-up). There is an ‘aquaroll’ water container for freshwater tap that is powered by the battery. It has a locking caravan-type door in a solid wall at the front with and opening glass window in another solid wall behind the sink. No dogs / smoking so smells fresh inside. Also included is a Harrison Motorhome awning. This is not the original Dandy Awning, but I was advised these are lighter and easier to set up.

Dandies have several advantages over tents and caravans – they can be set up level on quite steep hills which has been great for some campsites in Derbyshire and if used without the awing there is no need for ‘pegging-out.’ You can also fold-the roof back over one of the beds if you want to sunbathe in privacy or sleep-under-the stars. Sad to let it go children now grown-up and decided to get a caravan.

It has 12v/240v electric, but leisure battery doesnt hold charge - (I had to connect to car battery last time used it). There is also a waste water container and a heavy hitch-lock. Priced to sell - hope the new owner has as much pleasure from it as we have had. Please ring or text 07884466347.
