Fisherground is set right in the heart of Eskdale, one of Cumbria's loveliest valleys. Here on the West side of the Lake District we get less rain and more sun than our famous cousins the other side of Scafell. In this quiet valley there is still the Peace and Tranquillity that should be Lakeland - but rarely is in the bustling centres. Here there are still more sheep than people.
Peace is the watchword on the Campsite too. We cater mainly for families and couples and every effort is made to ensure silence after 10.30pm.
We now take bookings, and look forward to welcoming you when you arrive.
Our toilet facilities have been refurbished for the 2014 season, and include hot showers, toilets, hot water for washing up and laundry facilities. We have 6 electric hook up points.
There is also a children's paradise, with rafts on the pond, a tree house, a zip wire, tarzan ropes, and an adventure course.
Camp Fires are allowed in existing fire beds and we have our own station on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Miniature Railway.
Within walking distance is hundreds of riverside, valley and mountain walks and climbs, Scafell Pike -England's highest mountain, Wastwater - England's deepest lake. Ravenglass and Eskdale Miniature Railway, Hardknott Roman Fort, plus loads more. Jump in the car and the Lakes is at your fingertips with breathtaking scenery and great family days out.
From the M6 motorway leave at junction 36 for Kendal/Lakes. Follow signs for Barrow, before you reach Barrow, turn right to Workington (A5092) three miles beyond Newby Bridge. Follow this road for about 10 miles. Beyond Broughton in Furness you need to turn right at the traffic lights towards Ulpha. After 4 miles turn left in Ulpha village to the steep hill signed Eskdale. Follow the fell road to King George IV pub (6 miles). Turn right and Fisherground is the first farm on the left.
