Welcome to a 21st Century Lodge and Camping Site. We are a small rural site providing accommodation for people with a modern attitude towards outdoor living.
We have a camping area and the latest award-winning designs in self-catering accommodation and camping cabins.
Our 'wigwams' and 'sheiling' are a very popular alternative to camping and form a great 'glamping' offer. All cabins also come fully equipped with T.V., microwave, kettle, fridge and toaster, as well as cooking utensils and crockery/cutlery - everything we think you may need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Bedding is provided in the sheiling and we also have pillows and sleeping bags with liners available for hire.
As well as tent pitches, we also have two large, ready erected 'ready tents' available.
Our facilites are housed in a large attractive wooden cabin and include shower/bathrooms, as well as a dining area and library/games room. Breakfasts and packed lunches are available on site.
All of our guests are able to make use of the fire-pits and barbecues on site at no extra charge.
We are located on the beautiful Solway coast (famous for 'haaf-netting' fishing. Our site is a short walk from the River Eden. Hadrian's Wall trail is 100m away. The nearby city of Carlisle has all modern facilities as well as the castle and museum.
The Lake District and Scotland are a short drive from our site - Gretna Green is 15 minutes drive and within 10 minutes you can be driving in the remote and enigmatic borderlands - lands of the reivers. The Northern Lake District fells (Skiddaw and Blencathra)and towns (Penrith and Keswick) are within 30 minutes drive. Whinlatter Forest (near Bassenthwaite Lake) offers the opportunity for mountain biking and 'Go ape' activities as well as forest walks and mountain climbs. Walking, fishing, cycling, bird-watching are all popular activities.
The M6 is close to Carlisle and you can reach our site by driving through Carlisle or you can now take the 'new bypass' - A689 which skirts round the west side of the city. Our website and facebook page has links to maps. We are situated approximately 4 miles west of Carlisle between the villages of Beaumont and Monkill. The best way to get to our site is to drive to Monkhill and then turn right at Monkhill.
