Glamping in beautiful Hand built Shepherds huts sited in a sunny glade in the woods, or camp in our field meadow on our 200 acre family farm. Wander through the orchards to the National Trusts Bodiam castle and the local pub; take a ferry ride down the river, hop on a steam train, take part in adventure activities or just relax in front of the camp fire and enjoy the beautiful countryside.
In bygone days, agricultural workers working away from the farm were often accommodated in huts; Hand built on the farm in the tiny village of Bodiam in East Sussex, our huts are based on the idea of an old Shepherds hut.
The Shepherds huts - Glamping:
Hand built on site using up-cycled Materials the huts offer a usable and comfortable Glamping option. We can accommodate up to 5 guests comfortably in one hut. The huts have gas fired heating and Hobs, and open fire outside with cooking pots and a sink with running drinking water inside.
The Shepherds huts are sited away from the campsite in little clusters of 4 huts together they have one loo and shower block for 4 units and a communal covered space.
We accommodate group and individual bookings in the huts, a group can take all 4 of the huts to enable themselves an exclusive area. We never allow a group to accommodate 3 of the 4 huts as that would not be fair on the guests staying in the 4th hut. In order to accommodate group sizes up to 50 we work closely with a local Glamping company who are able to populate one of the sites with up to 9 bell tents.
Exclusive Hire Camping:
We have two private hire campsites on the farm; Udiam & the River Site. We are able to hire out both, in their entirety, for group bookings. Each can accommodate up to 60 people, so are great for birthdays, or big family weekends away! Again, we are able to populate the site with bell tents to offer larger groups a glamping option.
With our onsite cafe, The Hub, we are able to offer a wide range of catering options should you like to take the stress off the main chef!
Camping:
Throughout the summer we open Gabil Meads, our pop-up campsite. Dotted around the site are eco-friendly thunder boxes using environmentally sound chemicals and piping hot showers with a main toilet & shower block and washing up facilities plumbed in up at The Hub (our onsite cafe).
Our sites offer a beautiful space to relax and the peace of mind that this is not to the detriment of the environment. Carrying on with the same ethos of sustainability in 2016 we opened an onsite licensed cafe called The Hub. It is open February through to December, offering sustainably sourced breakfasts & lunches (and great cake)! Throughout the summer different events and pop-ups are held such as Pizza Night on Fridays - perfect for weekend check-ins.
Nearby Attractions
The National Trusts Castle is directly next to the farm and the Kent and Sussex Heritage railway runs into the site. We are nestled between the historic and coastal towns of Rye and Hastings with Battle about a 6 mile drive in land. Bedgebury forest is a 15 minute drive from the site. We are surrounded by Vineyards Orchards and Beautiful countryside with lovely little rural pubs and amazing restaurants within walking distance.
We can be found just a stones throw away from Bodiam Castle, next to the Kent and East Sussex Railway station. Our postcode is 2 miles long and some satnavs will take you to the wrong place, so please note our location on the map on this website.
