Description
Pitches: 11 touring + 20 tent pitches
We are currently closed Opening Dates this year: 01/03/2021 to 31/10/2021
To camp at Shallow Grange is to continue a noble tradition. At the turn of the last century, battalions of the famous Sherwood Foresters regiment used our farm as the site of their annual summer camp. Of course today, we offer you facilities far superior to those the soldiers would have known.
We have 11 touring pitches with hook ups & 20 tent pitches, a modern, eco-friendly shower block, washing up & laundry facilities.
We are proud of our eco-friendly credentials. We have solar panels for electricity generation, low energy LED lighting, low flush toilets using rain water harvesting, under floor heating using solar energy, a heat recovery ventilation system & PV panels for hot water.
You can do your bit for the environment by recycling all your rubbish in the bins provided.
The views from the site are lovely, as are the walks straight from the farm.
Our location in the Peak District National Park means you are within easy reach of all the famous attractions as well as the quiet dales, picturesque villages, pubs, bike trails & other outdoor pursuits.
We do not allow camp fires on the ground but you could hire one of our fire pits if you wanted a warm glow. We also sell large bags of wood. BBQs are fine as long as they are raised above the ground.
We also have a well stocked fishing pond for any fishermen among you.
We are a working farm . Please be aware that large farm machinery will be in use at certain times of the year.
Nearby Attractions
The northern boundary of the farm is a dale - Back Dale - which is a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest full of rare grasses & wild flowers. If you come in late Spring, early Summer you will see an abundance of cowslips & spotted orchids.
Close by is the spa town of Buxton & the market town of Bakewell.
Poole's Cavern & the caves at Castleton are all worth a visit as is the plague village of Eyam & the Heights of Abraham at Matlock Bath.
The Spa town of Buxton & the market town of Bakewell are close & we are within easy reach of the walking & biking trails - High Peak, Monsal & Tissington.
Carsington Water offers watersports & lots of interest for bird lovers & of course Haddon Hall & Chatsworth are just two of the famous stately homes in the area.
There is so much to do, you'll need more than one visit. See you soon!
