This is a brilliantly located site on the shores of Derwentwater, possibly one of the best views from a campsite you will see!
It's very popular so book early. It's a 5 minute walk to Keswick Town Centre, and excellent place for eating, drinking and shopping for essentials.
There's a good bus service in the summer too so you can get around without the usual hassles of parking in this area!
Facilities on site are OK, although they could do with an update. The vast majority of staff are great, but we were given a frosty reception by one lady.

This site is in an excellent location. There is some mention on here about the condition of the toilets and showers, during our stay (over the very busy Easter period) they were always found to be clean, they are dated and the showers are in need of upgrading but they are perfectly fit for purpose. We had a lovely pitch (although it did flood) which backed on to Derwent Water.
During our stay we had a great deal of trouble with the electricity supply. In general staff on the site were not particularly helpful and at times were very abrupt with the visitors. However, once I arrived back home and called Head Office to make a note of this I was treated in a much more positive manner and can not fault the way I was treated.
The site is run by a number of people, some friendly but unfortunately some not.
There is a small shop on site which sells the basics, however Booths supermarket is within walking distance of the site.
All in all a great site in an excellent location where you could park up and not use the car for the duration of your stay.

The site cannot be faulted for everything, apart from when nature floods it of course.
The wardens are really friendly and make a point of saying hello every time either they you pass each other.
We were sited on the pitches near the entrance. They were spacious, private and well kept.
The toilet and shower block were kept immaculately clean and well maintained.
The site is in a fabulous spot being only a short walk into the lovely little town and right on the water's edge with beautiful views.
If you are looking for a site close to the town, yet far enough away to imagine yourself in the country then this is the site for you.

This was our first (and last) visit to this club site. The access road is narrow and severely potholed. None of the 'sleeping policemen' are clearly marked or lit.
The 'welcome' to the site was less than obvious and to cap it all someone had taken our allocated pitch - not a good start. The facilities are tired and look very old and are dirty and cold - not a sign of any heating at all with outside temperatures around 6-8 degrees.
The showers barely worked and many of the appliances were out of order. My wife refused to use any of the washing facilities - we have clearly been 'spoiled' by clean and warm facilities as presented by the Caravan Club and other independent sites.
The water taps and disposal points are poorly sited, as are the tired toilets etc. So expect a long walk (or car ride as we did) to empty your toilet cassette.
If you are planning on a trip to the lakes then avoid this site unless you are the Bear Grylls type and like living in the wild.

Excellent location couldn't be any better and really really good staff in reception but the sites facilities are close together by the entrance and if you are at the other end of the site its a long way to get to them and they are dated. The views are spectacular and the site is right on the lakeside and is glorious couldn't pick a nicer spot. Keswick is a great town in walking distance, we have been twice now and love it - the town has got a great atmosphere and loads of great pubs and outdoor shops. Theres plenty to do as regards walks in the area and a great cycle ride along the old railway track. It is a busy site so book in advance. Will definitely go again and again !

We spent four nights at the Keswick site and would fully recommend it. It's in a stunning location, right on Derwentwater and about five minutes walk from Keswick town centre.
There's an abundance of walks in the area, and good pblic transport so that that you can embark on long, linear walks and catch the bus back. The own itself has many places to eat and drink, nice parks and a great theatre.
Facilities on site are OK, but a little dated by C&CC standards - they are definitely due an upgrade. Nevertheless, the site will remain very popular due to it's excellent location.
A great site!

We booked and paid for Keswick about 6 weeks before we arrived (book early if you want hardstanding). We arrived on a Friday just before hurricane Katia was due to hit north West England
Site easy to find and within easy walking distance to Keswick and it's shops.
Arrived and pulled up to the barrier and awaited to see the warden. We hadn't realised before arriving how much rain the site had suffered before our arrival (the hurricane hadn't arrived yet!). Most of the front pitches were under a lot of water and we were upset to hear the dog walk was also invisible (under about 3 foot of lake!) which was slightly annoying as we choose sites with dog walks as this is our main criteria when booking. (although I know the site cannot help the weather).
All I can say is thank goodness we booked a hardstanding, I actually could have wept for those on grass, and couldn't believe there were still tenters on grass and the wardens during our stay were letting caravans come in and pitch on grass. The grass pitches were in a terrible state and I cannot imagine the mess people were carrying into their units. Puddles/mini lakes of water everywhere on site on the grass.
Initially the warden put us on pitch 19 which was down the back end of the site near the entrance lane - we hated it. It had no view - not even of the fells let alone the lake so we asked to move back into the main field. We got set up on pitch 125 - a better view but further from the shower blocks.
Shower/loo blocks - there are two blocks which are oddly positioned quite close to each other near the site entrance. So those down next to the river/lake are further away, seems a shame you couldn't pick one of the shower blocks up and move it down to the middle of the park.
The facilities are old and tired and not very welcoming - especially on a dull and dreary wet day. They are clean, but just not inviting (reminded me of public toilets). Hairdryer available but at a cost (unlike CC sites).
We had to walk the dogs off site as apart from walking around the site's roads there was nowhere to walk them. Park area and marina close by if you go to the top of the entrance road and turn right.
We battened down the hatches and survived 3 nights through torrential rain and gale force winds day and night. We were due to stay a forth night but cabin fever was setting in so we decided to move on a day early.
To sum up: If you can guarantee the weather this would be a lovely site in a fab location. Icing on the cake is the proximity of getting into Keswick without a car. Don't come here if you know the area has suffered heavy rainfall, especially on grass. Best to check with the warden prior to arrival if the site is not flooded as we did not know this until we arrived after a long drive from Devon.

This is our second visit to the site after being completely astounded by the site last year. Our return has not disappointed us.
On arrival there wasn't much of a queue into the site (it was a bank holiday weekend) and the site assistants were so quick and efficient that it was rare there was ever much of a queue coming in.
The gentleman who brought us to our pitch even offered to get the tractor to pitch it if we wanted, after we admitted we weren't the best at reversing - but we tried and managed to reverse with ease!
We were on a grass with electric pitched next to the lake. It was a bit boggy in places but there has been a lot of rain lately so this was only to be expected. There seems to have been a few people not happy with the facilities which surprises me.
The toilets/showers aren't modern but all worked and were extremely clean - particularly considering how busy this site is! The showers are lovely and warm (and you don't have to keep pressing a button to get water - you just turn it on!). So while they don't look modern they are perfectly adequate and quite in keeping with the feel of the site.
Keswick is literally a stones throw away. We walked into town easily with our 4 year old son. Booths has everything you could need and all the food is extremely high quality so no need to worry if you forget anything. Keswick itself has plenty of camping shops, bakers, butchers - pretty much everything!
Derwentwater is easily accessed from the site and most people (including us!) have a boat, dinghy or kayak to have some fun on the water. There is a small play area in the centre of the site with swings and a slide - although this gets busy!
This site really has it all and in our opinion is the best site we have been to. From breathtaking scenery to a town on your doorstep - it really has something for everybody. Next year we may try and get a hard standing pitch though - just in case we were to have a week of rain!

Fantastic location within easy walking distance of Keswick town centre. Great dog friendly pubs with good menu's. We were allowed onto the site (after a bit of discussion) slightly early as there was a vacant spot.
Lovely scenic views that cant be matched anywhere else! Feel I must say 'come on C and C Club' spend a bit of money updating the facilities' They haven't changed in all the years I've been going to this site!
Site can flood so beware you must have your tow car on site overnight! Maybe some money could be spent on drainage?
Overall a site that I cant bear not to go to at least once a year but feel it could be improved to make it 5 star!

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at this site.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the rain.
The Hardstanding Pitches were excellent, quite big. You get a choice of whatever pitches are available. Staff are very helpful and very pleasant. We queued for about 30 mins to get pitched, so this seems to be the norm.
The only downside is the toilets, which really do need an update. Although, that said the water is hot and they are kept clean.
The lake is right on the site, so therefore, makes the site prone to flooding, we were on Flood Watch for most of our stay.
The walk in to Keswick takes about 10 minutes, there are loads of shops and pubs to go to. A particular favourite was the Dog and Gun, which is very dog friendly. We ate at the Keswick Lodge, which is also dog friendly and did a lovely steak and ale pie.
Booths is just next to the site which stocks everything you might need.
All in all a very good site, just need some updating to the toilet block, but that wouldn't put me off returning.
