We have been to this site again and again and again. Year after Year. NEVER fails to work its magic. One of, if not the best sites I have been to in Cumbria. The facilities are perfect, and Ruth and is a gem.

I live in the county but just those few miles makes a fantastic getaway.

Will keep going back. Jusy try and stop me.

Just returned from this excellent camp site. You could sit relaxing around the tent and listen to the Cuckoo.

The pitches are great, flat, grassy and surrounded by trees. You did not feel packed in and the site has rules of 3m between tents. Could do with more electric hook-ups though.

Make sure you have some rock pegs with you as these will be needed if the winds are high as they were during our stay. I bent quite a few pegs trying to get them in the ground.

The toilets were exceptional and I did not have to Queue for the showers even though there was only two each for Ladies and Gents. My wife had to wait on one occasion and aslo the hot water did not last into the morning. On a note of Safety the shower floors are extremely slippy so be careful.

The playground was good for the kids on the site.

You could not wish for a better site, the oustanding natural beauty of the area and the views. The local pubs sold great food and very friendly people.

We would definitely return to this fantastic site.

Great site. The pitches are reasonably flat with good views and surroundings. It's quiet at night despite it being busy. The play area was just right for our kids (6,5,2) and the toilet facilities were pristine. Bring most of your own grub etc as there is no shop on site and the nearest one is in Gosforth. This was a great site for getting away from it all and we will be back again.

Lovely site in a fantastic location. Mountain walks from the site and a short drive to Wasdale Head to do the 'big boys' (Scafell, Pillar etc.).

Only two showers for women and two for men but, as previously mentioned, never had to queue once! Plenty of hot water.

Hot drinks machine in the laundry was a great idea (especially when the weather turns and you can't be bothered to get the stove out)! A cold can machine would also be a good idea.

Although site was full when we arrived - it still did not seem too crowded. However, someone did pitch their tent approx 1.5m from ours on the last evening! There's always one!

Screes Inn and Strand both nice places to eat. A little expensive for pub grub - but this is the Lakes! Both dog friendly also.

We arrived at this site to a warm welcome from both the owners and their working sheepdogs. The site is extremely well organised and is well maintained. The toilet and shower facilities are basic but well looked after. They were always clean and were well maintained. The dishwashing facilities were great and dry. There was a fully kitted out laundry that we didn't use but was being well used by other campers. The added luxury there was a vending machine for hot drinks.

The site itself has a public footpath running through it and this is well signposted so that there are no stray hikers wandering around the site. The owners are really friendly and helpful and are prepared to get tough with people who don't respect the rules of the site. We had a great weekend. The scenery here is fantastic and there is little to do other than enjoy the vista and wander around. There is a hotel and a pub in the village. We ate at the Screes Inn and it was good quality comfort type food which was just what we wanted. All in all a lovely weekend.

Great site, Toilets and shower rooms small but kept very clean, site was busy but never had to queue at any time.
The surrounding area is just wow, a trip to Wesdale Head is a must especially with the home brew beer at the Hotel.
Locally 2 pubs in the village both serving good food and ale.

A working farm and the owners work very hard to maintain this quality site.

Definitely coming back.

This site has a maximum capacity of 50 campers They don't take group bookings as a rule and the site is used by families and serious walkers. To that end,  quiet and plenty of room and a great little site.
Facilities:-
There is one toilet and shower block which is kept clean all the time, atached is a laundry and washing up room with a freezer for your ice blocks again clean and tidy and constant hot water.
The site was full and we never had to queue once and never saw one, this is probably due to the common sense of the campers all not running to the shower at the same time! there is only one thing I couldnt get my head round is why after 2100hrs the showers were locked until early morning? all the doors are coded so its not like any passer by is going to nip in for a shower.
There is a park for the kids to play in and a footbal field to one side. Electric hook ups and a quiet area, well, em, the quiet area is just the other side of the track and the campsite isnt big enough to get away from any noise so its not really any quieter. (not that there was any noise)
Right outside the farm/site entrace are two pubs, and further up the hill another hotel and restaurant each siutable for variuose bugets and taste buds. Pie and chips for us lot after a good tab up scafell was good enough.

This is a working farm and the owners were friendly and helpful I would happily stay here again

Ps.you will need to book

Pps.Hard Knot pass keeps the masses away :-)

 Great site will go back.
Set close to mountains & beautiful Wast Water. 2 nice pubs a short walk into village.
Great showers.

Set between 2 small woods which was ideal for walking dog. Owls flew over tent at dusk.

Electric hook-up. Friendly owners. Nice & quiet.

Quite a drive to get to central lakes over Hardknott pass but near to coast.

This is a great site in a great location, had 3 nights here at the end of April.  Wasn't busy when we stayed - had choice of whole campsite so pitched on edge with woods behind us.

Facilities are very good and clean but a bit limited, usual separate gents/ladies toilet/shower rooms and a laundry room, but I would imaging there would be queues if the site was full.

Nice to see owners providing full recycling facilities!
2 pubs within 5 minutes walk, both do food and have a beer garden/patio.

Although the campsite itself was quiet, the local area wasn't, with all of the parking places along Wastwater full by early morning on the Sunday.

Security is important on this site! main gate locked at night, 3 key codes given to you for the toilet/shower/laundry block and a label to hang on your van/tent with vehicle reg and leaving date - perhaps its because there is a public footpath running through the site although wasn't heavily used.

A nice week-end on a nice quiet site with great views and lovely weather.

.we will be back !

FANTASTIC!! The toilets/showers were exceptionally clean (FOC, and plenty of hot water). The laundry room (complete with freezer for campers use) was also clean. Small, but lovely play-area for the children, with woodchip on the ground to cushion any falls! Electric is available, but is limited, so needs to be pre-booked. Not an overcrowed site which is a good thing, in my opinion. There are a set of rules to stick to (gates closed to cars after 9.30pm, no noise after 11.30pm, all ball games to stay in the play-area) but this just makes for a more pleasant & peaceful stay. Fresh water & water disposal areas spread throughout the site. Very friendly & helpful owners. We will definitely be returning.
