Our first trip out was to ferry meadows, wanted somewhere quite close to home and we went with friends who have had a caravan for years. We had the time of our life, the weather could have been nicer but it didnt spoil the fun. The site itself was spotless, including the showers and toilets. We took a walk each night and the area is stunning. Couldnt believe we didnt know this place existed and we used to live 10 mins away. We will be going back.

Love this site.Prefer the east field to the hardstanding and the childrens playground provides many hours of fun for our two age 11 and 3. They met loads of other children and had a great game of footy.
The site is great for cycling as its right next to the Nene Valley Park. Fish & chip van on friday night is useful after setting up for the weekend. Showers are lovely, loads of hot water and spacious. There is a seat in the drying area but could do with a shelf for glasses, watches etc.
One word of warning.Lock your bikes up and put them in your awning. On the saturday night while it was tipping down with rain 7 bikes were stolen.Thieves used bolt croppers and cut through the heavy duty cable which was padlocking ours all together. They knew what they wanted, my bike was left behind(a cheapy from Halfords but they took my husbands 3 week old Carrera mountain bike). Will be much more careful next time. Apparently it has happened before but I'm not sure what the site can do to prevent it.
Take the Nene Valley railway into Peterborough on a rainy day.Its a lovely City to wander around on a wet saturday afternoon and the kids love the steam trains.
Have been to this site before and will keep going back.

Phoned up for a tent pitch and was told that as a norm my tent would be too big to be accepted, 6 birth, but at they had two cancelations due to the bad weather forecast they would make the exception.
Facilities were good as is the location. I took my son and his four friends they loved it. The weather was not that great either. There was enough open space for them to wear themselves out.
Toilets are good, must of recently been refurbushed and cleaned at the times stated. Yep we would use this camping again if I get a consesion on the oversized tent.;)

What a great site!
We had a brilliant weekend - the weather certainly helped - hot and sunny all weekend, despite the weather forcast for rain on Sunday.
The only problem we did have was that we didn't arrive until gone 6, and had to wait to be shown to a pitch. We pitched on the right hand side - the grassy area, and the grass was very wet, so we were shown to a pitch, and towed onto the pitch with a little tractor to save us churning up the grass. We were given a temporary barrier key, and were told to go back to the office with our pitch number and we would be given toilet keys. By the time we had waited to be shown to a pitch and got sorted the office was closed - it had closed at 6:30 - we weren't warned, so no toilet key overnight. Luckily the toilet that is used when the main toilets are being cleaned had been left open (not intentionally), but we couldn't use the showers. However when we did get a key, they were the nicest showers yet - newly refurbished, immaculately clean, lots of hot water, an area with a seat for changing which stayed reasonably dry, 4 hooks for clothes / towels etc. Brilliant! Unfortunately the family washroom was in the process of being refurbished, so we didn't use it, but there are plans for a bath in there rather than a shower apparently.
We have been on the hardstanding pitches in the past, and much preferred the grass one. - The pitches are not so regimented - we felt the hardstandings were a bit like a car park. Our pitch had trees around, and was right next to the kids play area - great for our lot (13,10,2 and 5 months). The chip van which was open on Fri night was ideal as we arrived later than planned, and of course the kids loved the ice cream van that toured the site in the evenings.
We had a wonderful day on Saturday in the park down the road, feeding the ducks and geese, the kids rode on the little train, and played to their hearts content in the adventure playgrounds, and had a plentiful supply of ice creams and drinks from the cafe. (Not to mention sun hats for all as the hot weather took us by surprise!) The paths were perfect for their scooters too.
A short walk away is a pub and a garden centre. We have eaten in the pub before - good food, but not very pram friendly - we had to eat in the entrance hall as they wouldn't let us take the pram up the stairs to the main eating area. We had a lovely lunch in the garden centre on Sunday, and enjoyed watching the steam trains as we walked near to the level crossing.
All the staff were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. Despite a notice up saying we needed to vacate the pitch by 12 we were allowed to stay for the afternoon. Which as the weather was nice was great.
Just one tip - take cash! We found we were short and had to go looking for a cash machine - the site office only took cards for the bookings, and wanted cash for other things, and by the time we'd bought ice cream, chips, and spent money in the park we were seriously short!
A lovely site, perfect for families, with loads to do within walking distance. Highly recommended!

A great site, so peaceful and a great place to be. The pitches are huge and level, although only the West side was open due to the time of year. The facilities are the usual Caravan Club high standards, with clean toilet blocks and helpful staff worthy of mention. The surrounding park is a great way to pass the time; we walked around the lakes for an afternoon and relished the late winter sunshine and varied wildlife. My only grip was the cost of using the wi-fi on site, (£6 and hour if you purchase it from the reception or £9 a night if you log on and enter your card details), it seems pricey when the cost of home broadband is in free fall.
We would definitely visit again, and would highly recommend it to anyone else.

This is the second time we have been to Ferry Meadows. There were 3 other families with us this time. We were on the hard standing site (first time) as the grass site was closed to renovations. We hoped that they are building more toilet/shower blocks. One of the best sites we have been. The children loved the sound of the steam trains passing by. Petersborough is only a few miles away and so we all cycled in. The parks nearby were lovely. The bar in the park were closed as were the peddle boats although it was the start of half term.
The pub nearby was nice and staff were friendly. The site could do with a small shop selling some groceries.
We all had a great time and will visit again soon.

Hard Standing side. By far the best site we have stayed on in the UK this year. I simply cannot fault it in any way. They seem to have thought of everything, even putting a little shelf in the shower cubicle so that people have somewhere to put their spectacles.
We booked this site so we could visit the Nene Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala. It came as quite a surprise to learn that patrons of the Caravan Club site got a 50% reduction on the day rover ticket price from the Ferry Meadows Railway Stations. Effectively two days travel for the price of one.
We'll certainly be booking early for next years event.

Just spent a week here and would return again, easy to find and spacious pitches, Nene country park wonderful but we did have a rare week of sunshine ! Found the garden centre at the top of the lane a bit expensive, kids enjoyed the pitch and putt. Take your bike as lots of flat cycle tracks around the park. My dad and my son went fishing everyday but didn't catch much. Site as expected clean and well kept lots of bins and service points.

I can't recommend this site highly enough. We stayed on the grass pitches, which are across the road from the main reception. The pitches were of a really good size and well spaced out. When on site, it didn't feel crowded because of the way the pitches have been spaced out in to smaller areas. The toilets were always clean. The baby/toddler room was a great idea and came in really useful with our ten month old baby girl. The room was large, had baby bath, separate shower, toilet and sink. There was so much wild life around the caravans which were all tame. rabbit, birds etc. The staff at reception were always very helpful. There is loads to do in the vasinity of the caravan park, with Ferry Meadows Country Park only a short walk from the site itself. We will be returning again soon.

Just returned from Ferry Meadows site (hardstanding side). One of the best sites we have visited - our daughter and friend (9 years) had a great time on the various parks. This site is full of rabbits which they loved. The main Nene Park is lovely and only a short walk from the site - with a huge lake and adventure playground. Fish and chip van across the road on the grass side, open 5-7pm. Garden centre just up the road. Will definitely be visiting again.
