An excellent site, large, but well laid out giving a feeling of it being much smaller, as it is broken up by trees and areas of different heights.
Three excellent toilet blocks which were maintained to a high standard even though the site was almost full over the period of our stay. Never a problem getting a shower and an excellent laundry room and dish washing facilities.
A small shop selling the essentials and barrier control for security.
There's a bar, something that would normally make us avoid a site, but there was no noise or disruption at all and the site was quiet overnight.
A play area which the kids loved but this is out of the way and can not be seen from any of the pitches, an advantage or disadvantage depending on your circumstances!
The site is mainly set up for caravans with loads of hard standing pitches and the number of tent pitches does appear limited, especially those with electric hook ups, so would recommend booking to be safe.
Had a great four nights here despite HEAVY rain but the site is well drained and this caused no problems.
Only a short drive from Kendal and Windermere so a great spot to explore the South Lakes from. Situated away from the main road so no traffic noise at all. One of the best sites we have visited and so we would highly recommend. We will be back again, the kids didn't want to leave.

I love this site, we left our caravan here, from September to January. Its a large site, with good facilities, and seems to be popular with all ages. Its not far from the main road into Windermere and Bowness, and has a security barrier and small pub.

We even stayed here on New years eve, where they had a marque and disco, which was great for the kids, and they even got some presents of Santa. The only thing that lets this site down from a family point of view is that the park isn't very good, and is well hidden so it makes it hard to be able to keep an eye on the children without having to actually stand behind them.

The owners and wardens all come across as helpful, but at busy times, you have to be off your pitch in time as there is usually somebody waiting to get straight on after you. TV reception isn't great on certain parts of the site, but its still one of the best in the area and value for money.

We stopped here for our first ever family camping holiday, so there were some elements of fiasco that had nothing to do with the site itself! The site's in a good location - not far off the main road but far enough for noise not to be a problem, and close to Staveley which is fast becoming a Foodie Paradise (check out the Bakery and Wilf's Cafe in particular).

The facilities on the site were top notch with a bar, children's play area and shop, and the toilets etc were faultless. Only one problem for us and it was a biggie - come the Friday Night, the site became an awful lot busier and hence noisier. It was bad luck that a large group ended up next to us, and to be fair they were asked to keep it down a bit by one of the staff - but the noise was too much and we ended up packing up and leaving despite having already paid for another night. Not the place to go for a peaceful and quiet weekend then, but then again it's a big site.

Fabulous site, very helpful staff, great shower/toilet blocks.
Location is on the edge of the lake district and so you need to travel a few miles to get to Lake Windermere and beyond.
Definitely would visit this site again, but will perhaps go nearer to Ambleside next time.

We spent six nights at this site.  This campsite is very much a contrast to many other CCC sites.  It is large (350 pitches) and has a bar on site.  The whole site is beautifully landscaped and one gets the impression that one is on a much smaller site because it is divided into small areas.  As usual, the loos and showers are superb.  There are launderette facilities and drying lockers for wet walking gear.  Pitches are level and well-drained, if a bit stony.
The site attracts many holiday-makers, as opposed to dedicated campers, and they don't seem to respect the 'quiet after nine' rule.  Kicking out time on Friday and Saturday nights can be quite noisy.
It is a little way out of Windermere itself and there are no shops nearby, but the site shop sells the basics.
I will definitely go back to this site, despite my comments about some of the other residents, because it is almost impossible to fault in any other way.

A well set out site in a lovely setting miles from anywhere. Staveley is a couple of miles down the busy dual carriageway which is ok but if you like a night out drinking like we do then it is probably too dangerous to attempt the wobble back. However there is a pub on site, the whistling pig, which does the job.
Good situation for visiting Bowness, Ambleside, Hawkshead and of course Windermere.Toilet blocks were expectantly clean but there was an awful drain smell as you approached them when we were there. We went to Bowness for a meal one night and returned after 11pm to find the barriers down and had to settle down for the night outside the gates, which was different I suppose but rules are rules.
