We have just returned from a Bank Holiday break at Doe Park. The park was lovely and quiet despite it being a Bank Holiday weekend. The pitch sizes were really good and you felt a long way away from your neighbours which was nice.

They take pride in their site and it was spotlessly clean and the grass beautifully kept (though they never cut it when you are there, it's almost like the fairies come whilst you are out). The toilet block was also spotless and I never had to wait for a shower.

We had problems with our electrics whilst there and nothing was too much trouble for them. They rallied round to find us a spare cable, battery charger and lots of much needed help and advice. Thanks guys

Overall this is a well run site and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed at Doe Park earlier this year and liked it so much we re-booked at Easter so were able to see how it ran in peak-season. I have to say we are very impressed by the staff and management of this lovely haven.

They are simply wonderful and far more hospitable than the Caravan and Camping Club site nearer Barnard Castle where we stayed the following night.

The pitches are very large and we were amazed at how many people said they 'had been coming back to Doe Park for years'. To me that says it all.

The grass is cut short and all the cuttings taken away so you don't get grass in your caravan, the toilets and shower are immaculate.

We wanted milk and papers and bread so walked across the small field into Cotherstone village at 8am on Friday to the sound of hundreds of singing birds in the surrounding trees and though to myself 'how lucky are we to be staying here'.

We chose Doe Park as our first destination with our new caravan, following a recommendation from one of the staff at Lunar.

It is set in the countryside of Barnard Castle, beautiful, peaceful, with views to die for! The site is very quiet with spacious pitches.

The staff are very friendly and the toilet/wash block is of excellent standard. Reception sells the basics, much to our approval when we ran short of milk!

About 4 miles sees you into Barnard Castle itself. You can take a tour of the castle grounds (for a fee) or browse the quintessential shops fronting the high street, although there is a Co-op for replenishing the essentials!

Cotherstone is the nearest village, within easy walking distance. We travelled a little further in the opposite direction to Romaldkirk via car to find a pub lunch. We found a couple of very friendly local pubs. Log open fires and enough space to fit, a few people, cosily!

There are a couple of options when it comes to sites near Barnard Castle. We passed a couple of them on the way, but have to say, Doe Park wins hands down in terms of views and ‘countryside’ feel.

We were only here for a couple of days, but would easily return for a relaxing break. Highly recommended.

What a great site, We always use caravan Club sites as we like nice toilets and showers. But we found this site and we are so glad we have. It is going to be our new site for quick weekends away.

Great walks from the site all through fields no Roads. We walked to Romalkirk from the site very nice Pub there. We also walked to Cotherstone 2 pubs there but Dogs not allowed such a shame they would do more trade if they let dogs in.

We had a meal outside the pub with our little dog anf food was very nice.

Great Site, Great People, We will be back very soon

We stayed at Doe Park twice since it opened for this season. The staff, facilities and location of this Park are all absolutely fantastic. We had lovely walks in all directions from the site without being on any main roads (Teesdale Railway paths which are joined across three well used fields) and we used the bus services a few times as we like a few drinks. Barnard Castle has a NEW Caravan Club Site and we are members but Doe Park wins hands down for location, peace and quiet, well spaced pitches and a feeling you are really in the country, the view are lovely. Totally silent at night.

Its only a 10 minutes walk into Cotherstone Village where you will find two nice pubs one doing food and the other is more of a locals pub with lower prices. We LOVE Doe Park as its the best site weve ever been to. WE might try the Barny Caravan club site for one night BUT its right next to the main Barnard Castle to Middleton in Teesdale road and we don't like noisy sites.

How does a person describe perfection. This site has it all. Views to die for, friendly and very helpful staff and owners. Every facility to excellent standards. And even my pet hate of cut grass trampling into the caravan was dealt with as not a blade of cut grass to be seen.

The walks from the campsite were lovely, to one side walks through fields in outstanding countryside. To the other side a walk down to the riverside where there stands the ruins of an old watermill.

The rushing water in the river and the birds singing in the meadow was nothing more than paradise although the walk down is a bit steep and care has to be taken.

Where ever you are sited on this site has the most lovely views. The reception hut has quite a selection of books as well as the large collection of tourist information brochures.

I was told that the reception hut is always open and even shown where the light was should I want to come and borrow a book after dark. This is how this site is run with care and consideration beyond the call of duty.

I cannot even think of a minus as it did not have any. We have been caravanning for years and this is easily the best site we have ever been on.

The surrounding countryside is wonderful and Barnard Castle is a lovely town for shopping and museums, castle etc. Cotherstone itself is lovely, one of the staff is a resident and told us of the riverside walk which was very nice.

It also has a Post Office come stores and 2 pubs. The Fox & Hounds was very friendly with locals stopping to talk to complete strangers. I don't know what else I could say to further express my delight in the site and the area except to say we know where we are having our main holiday next year!
