Generally a lovely site, very close to York. We were in the tent field and had ehu. The field was great, lots of room to pitch and room in the middle for the children to play. It was a fair walk to the toilet in the night and there was no lighting which as a woman I found a bit daunting.
The only thing I can fault this site on is the toilets and the showers. There were only 3 toilets and 3 showers which sometimes meant you had to wait. The loo roll was very good quality, none of that cheap stuff here! The toilets didn't smell very nice and could have done with some air fresheners. You had to pay 20p for the showers for 5 mins which I don't mind but I didn't like having to get undressed and then lean out of the door to put your money in. Also when I had finished I didn't like not being able to mop the shower out or get rid of the soap suds as there was no way of getting any water to do this.
A free microwave to use was a great idea. The kids loved the play area and the games room. The homemade cakes in the shop were delicious and the shop prices were very reasonable.
We used the park and ride into york which was great £2.30 return per adult with the kids travelling free.
If you are in the tent field, you might find some earplugs useful as you can hear all the animal noises from the adjoining field which are lovely to hear during the day/evening but at 3am when the cockerel crows and then the geese start it can be quite disturbing.
We will be returning to this site mainly due to the location for york and the fact it only took us 40 minutes from home. £20.50 per night with ehu for 2 adults and 2 children during the school hols was very good value for money.

Site very clean and tidy, as were the toilet and shower blocks.Games room open with a table tennis table and TV.
Small shop come office which is only open two or three times through out the day. Weather was great which helped, pitches were flat and most had EHU. It is only a small site, though would definitely come back again.
Two pubs in village approx 15 mins walk away and one on the main road about 10 mins walk away.Garage five min walk away for papers.
Park and ride into York 5 mins away, which was great. Site is near the main road, which you only hear at night time, though didn't bother us.

Site location is great only 5 min from the A64.
We arrived late Friday night in the dark but was warmly greeted on site by the wardens who promptly showed us to our pitch. Our pitch was a great and a great size too plenty of room for our caravan awning and car.Fresh water was within 20 yards. Office and all other amenities was a very short walk across the field.
Once settled on site there was a very nice Chinese in the next village of Stamford bridge, plus a chip shop and pizza shop only 3.5 mile away.
Plenty to do my young son loved riding his bike around plus there is a great play area, and our 17 year old loved the free internet access.
The only bad point was there was no heating in the toilet block, usually this would not be a problem but for the time of year we felt it would benefit from a little warmth especially at night-time.
All said a very nice pleasant site, one which we will be visiting again.
P.S. The east coast was only 45 mins drive away.

What a great site. Loads of room on our pitch lovely facilities . Friendly owners and staff. A great location for the countryside walks we went bramble picking with the kids they loved it near to plenty of attractions like york maze. Only downsides were a little pricey {£45 for 2 adults 2 kids and 1 dog in a 5 man tent} and the ground bent most of our pegs but we will definitely go again

The field was flat and grass short, the toilets and showers, always spotless, were cleaned everyday around 10am, the caretakers were a lovely couple, a 5 min walk to the pub on the main road, The Windmill, really good food, maybe 10 mins to the village shop, bus stop to York, and two more pubs, the campsite shop was not badly priced and had a large chiller with lots of cold beer, it was heatwave week, we were very lucky, York is great to visit, if we are up there again we would not hesitate to use this site, the free wifi was a bonus, the site bbq's looked great but never got round to use them

What a gem of a site - will definitely be returning here.
The site is only a couple of miles from the main roads around York, but the site is approached via a rural lane and then a leafy drive. We stayed in the tent field which has a mixture of EHU and non-EHUs around the edge: the middle of the field is left free and is ideal for cricket etc.
The tent field is surrounded by shrubs. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is road noise from the York to Hull road but this didn't bother us. The ground is quite heavy and didn't seem to drain particularly well but it didn't cause a problem for us. We thought it was to do with the location in the vale of York.
The owners can't do enough for you and the facilities are great. Games room (ping pong / TV / books and magazines etc.) with adjoining laundry and internet room. We didn't have EHU but the owners were very happy for me to charge my Blackberry in the laundry for no charge.
The shop is fine for basics. There is a Costcutter in Dunnington village but that, too, is quite basic so don't expect to buy your gourmet treats from here!
The toilets and showers were spotless. The cubicles were large with a seat in so my 7 year old was able to sit on the seat and get dried / dressed while I was in the shower. Lots of handy hooks on the door. Soap and toilet roll was provided.
We didn't use the Aussie barbecue but it looked great. My daughter loved the play park which was near all the facilities for handy when I was washing up etc.
Pitches were marked out and were a decent size. My sister had a four-man and a two-man on her pitch and was not charged extra.
Would definitely recommend this site and will be returning soon.
The only negative was the wasps - there were loads hovering around us when we were preparing food etc. They weren't on the play area, middle of field or anywhere else so didn't bother the kids
Oh, one other thing. We are a party of one adult and one child but I had to pay the minimum 'two-adult' price.

Very nice site. Very friendly wardens and also seasonal caravan members. Usually visit caravan club sites but they were both booked for this weekend so tried this site, was very impressed. Nicely laid out site, separate fields for tents and caravans and lots of room. Showers very clean only negative had to pay 20p each time. Nice shop, washing area etc. Good but small playarea, could do with expanding a bit. Good indoor play room with table tennis etc. My seven year old loved it here and made lots of friends hardly saw him while we were there, felt very safe. Good area for visiting York, park and ride 10mins away.

We have just spent a very wet and windy weekend at this site. I could not fault the facilities, everything you would expect and more, showers (20p) / toilets, shop, aussie style bbq (£2.00), recreation room with table tennis and TV, washup facilities and a room with microwave and kettle. Everything was kept really clean and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Oh and if you have children there is a nice little play area with climbing frame and slide.
The camping field was nice and flat, grass was short, nice sized pitches, and even though we had loads of rain it didn't get water logged. However, the negatives are that the camping field is furthest away from all the facilities, you have to walk through the caravan field to get to them! A bit of a bind in the night if you need the loo, especially when its raining.
This wouldn't stop us returning to the site, however the noise from the road certainly will. The camping field is pretty close to the main A1079, now I don't know if the wind was blowing towards us making it louder, but it certainly was very noticeable for us.
Anyway, if road noise doesn't bother you then you won't find a nicer site.

We arrived for a weekend break and on entering the site were met by the site manager who after booking in showed us to our pitch which was well set out and plenty of space in between. The site is a bit on the small side with one field for tourers and the other for tents with only one toilet/shower block to service both. Also families on the tent field had to go through the touring section to get to the toilets which is not ideal if your caught short or toilet training two three yr olds as we were. But that said they were nice and clean. The showers were spacious and water was hot but not many on the site so maybe different in busier times.
No pub on site but there were a couple within walking distance. Kids play area wasn't very big but a plus point was a Australian style bbq which was two large hot plates for cooking with a thatched roof above for unAustralian type elements. This was either gas or electric not sure because we didn't use it, at a cost of two pound for 30mins, sounds a lot but the plates were large. On the whole this site was not our cup of tea as we like a site with a bit more life and better facilities for kids but was ok for a weekend.

Very warm welcome by the owners who personally show you to your site with lovely flat ground and plenty of space. Toilets and showers spotless, although 20p charge, plenty of time and very hot. Shop is only open 3 times a day at the moment but very well stocked with all essentials.
A short walk into the village and you can get a bus direct to York, it runs every half hour and the pub and the chippy there really nice. On the site they had a play area for children and also an aussie bbq area. I was really impressed with this site everyone very friendly and will be back soon .
