If you are afraid of large open spaces and loads of children then this isn't the place for you. Although we encountered millions of anklebiters there was plenty to keep them occupied. There are also some secluded pitches, smaller fields for groups, and boring people who want to keep out of the way or are on honeymoon and we want out of the way! The field near the lake edge has direct access for people with boats.
The shop is large and well stocked, and we found it reasonably priced. Including excellent and cheap large items such as dingies and gazebos!
We didn't use the bar, very family oriantated with entertainment daily. Theres even a Kids Club! (But they wouldn't let Dave join!)

Not what I like. All up and down hill where my tent was and we were not alone. It was not the best atmosphere to much like a haven or pontins type thing the staff were sort of 'its a job' kind of attitude. I will go back when cause the kids liked it, but when they are older......no thanks. The chips where the best I've tasted and the Guinness was not bad either.

This site is in beautiful surroundings with good access to lake and fells.
Facilities are good and showers toilets etc. are cleaned daily.
The location benefits from a rainfall slightly less than more-central parts of the Lake District, and is well-situated within an hour or two's travel of other attractions such as Hadrian's Wall, the North Pennines, Carlisle etc.
Unfortunately this site can suffer from excessive noise late at night and can be very crowded at bank holidays.
This has not deterred us though; we have made the 580 km trip up here no fewer than 10 times since 1979.

Park Foot has two sites, one is by the side of Lake Ullswater and has recently had extensions built to the shower/toilet block, which is always clean and tidy. There's a boot wash and an excellent hot sluice for washing up, though again both are closed in the winter.
If you arrive late, the staff can be a little enthusiastic in ensuring they get paid, we were asked to get out of bed at 8:30 one morning and give them the money there and then.
It's excellent for families and single people, and generally the camp is quiet after midnight.
Park Foot is open throughout the winter, though we found the shower block on the lower site is closed out of season.
The shop is very well stocked though a little expensive.
The site is good for pitching even in the winter, but keep the car on the track or it will bog down! After December a lot of trees shed their branches in the wind, so be wary where you pitch.
There are many walks around the area, the steamboats to Patterdale are 15 minutes walk away from the campsite, small boats are for hire along the track to Pooley Bridge and the Park itself has many things to do.
The walk into Patterdale from Park Foot takes around 4-5 hours and is very nice after the first 3 miles. You would walk around 12 miles or so, and you can get the steamboat back to Pooley Bridge.
The walk into Pooley Bridge takes ten minutes, and you can follow the road or take the lakeside track. Pooley Bridge is tiny, but very attractive and we have spent many weekends there.
We would heartily recommend visiting the Crown Inn at Pooley Bridge, and taste the beef and ale pie! There's two other pubs, two camping shops, a postoffice, newsagents, general store, two gift shops and two small tea rooms. We have tried the tea room next to the bridge three times now, and have yet to be served!
There's also a TI which is hardly ever open and a craft shop which is expensive. Summer sees a craft and antique fair in the church and there's hardly any parking during season.
We return about four times a year at least and never tire of the place, though that's more to do with Pooley Bridge than Park Foot.
