Lovely site. Our first visit to this site. Met by a warden who took us to our pitch and after a quick think moved us to another one as he said it would be dryer and rain was forecast. Pitch was great. Surrounded by caravans and motorhomes we did feel like the poor relations but everyone was really friendly. Our pitch was very quiet but on visit to the toilet blocks (exceedingly clean and warm! ) one evening it sounded like they where having a party on the other field.
Location wise it is fantastic for the centre of Keswick and booths supermarket. Overall had a great time despite the weather and we will be back.
Site wifi was good enough to stream a movie one night when it was raining!
Little site shop for the basics but with the town so close only used it for milk so can't really comment. Would love to stay on the backpackers field which is right on the lakeshore. One for our next visit.
Even though it was bank holiday the site never felt overcrowded.

In the end I stayed here for a full week although on arrival I felt distinctly uncomfortable with the place. The site is full of caravans and camper vans. Their first task on arrival seemed to be to get a ladder out and proceed to clean and polish their pride and joy! It's expensive, very regulated and lacks character. I even observed wardens measuring awnings and wind breaks to ensure no one had strayed beyond their designated plot. Gates are shut between 11pm and 7am and unbelievably I got a phone call to remind me that I was an hour late vacating my pitch, even though there were only a couple of us in the entire tent field.
The tent field, accessed via the main site, offers some respite from the camping and caravan site experience. You will have to put up with the dog walkers doing their rounds but the reward is a fantastic view towards Catbells and a short stroll across the dog walking area brings you out on the Derwent shoreline, with views and reflections down to Castle Crag and then back towards Skiddaw. A great place to come to and enjoy a mug of tea in the morning!
It's not all bad though. The site feels very safe, every one is very pleasant, the facilities are spotless and warm, and you are only a very short walk from Keswick town centre. So this is what you're paying for. The weather was fantastic so I spent most of the week on the fells and very little time on site, where as most residents spent most of their time sat by their gleaming white boxes and were tucked up for the night by 10pm, so we didn't need to bother each other that much.
I ended up staying all week and even ended up joining their club as it was cheaper to do this than pay the non-members pitch fee for the week! I wonder if I'll make use of this again, but who knows!

When we arrived many of the pitches were flooded so the remainder weren't very good. We found the wardens to be unfriendly and overbearing. Within 2 minutes of lighting our bbq two wardens came over and 'told' us to put it out when we had finished. We were then watched for the remainder of our visit leaving us feeling very uneasy. There are no ball games allowed and no-one seems to sit out at night or socialise - perhaps due to the overbearing 'Big Brother' feel around the site. Would definitely not recommend or revisit.

This was our third visit to this site. It is in a fantastic location one toilet block has been updated to a good standard very clean lovely wardens. What a shame the ccc did not tell us that the second toilet block upgrade and general site upgrade was in full swing. If you are considering a visit, best leave it until after end of March unless you want to spend your time dodging speeding builders going the wrong way around the site and loads of noisy machinery. All units had to pitch in one area of the site, what a pity ccc did not have the decency to inform us when booking rather than give us a printed letter about the works on arrival. Sorry ccc willnot be renewing our membership, pitches even though upgraded are too small

Just had two nights stay at this lovely campsite, perfect location as it is only a three minute walk into Keswick town, where there are plenty of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, to suit all. You can catch a bus outside Booths supermarket to lots of surrounding villages and towns. The site itself is lovely, spacious pitches, and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. Shower and toilet block spotless. Can purchases a few essentials in the reception, and also sell gas. Will definitely be returning.

Been loads of times but thought would give an update.
The shower block has been updated at last and it is really good great showers loads of hot water excellent.
As usual the staff are so friendly and helpful and the road has been resurfaced with extra pitches on gravel and it has been very well drained it's such a good site in an outstanding area - Keswick is an amazing town with so much life - good bus service outside Booths supermarket amazing pubs and shops in the town and fantastic walks the area is really picturesque and you couldn't wish to wake up to a better view and we've only ever been in the winter!
Very busy place best to book in advance

AS last review said toilet block is great, and the good news is the other toilet block is now been refurbished. If its like the other it to will be great, it also looks like they have put some ground drainage on the grass pitches near to the lake, all the roads have been resurfaced into and around the site, wardens as usual great service.

I cannot say enough about this site.
Great reception from site upon arrival, despite the rain. Efficiently checked in and shown to pitch. Location is right on the lake but also only five minutes walk from marvellous Keswick.
Toilet and shower block are immaculate with plenty of space and plenty of hot water!
Small shop on site but supermarket very close by also.
Scenery from site is amazing, every time you look out over the lake or mountains, the view has changed. A photographers paradise.
Can't wait to go back.

Location
Possibly one of the best sites in the Lakes for location. It's right on the shore of Derwentwater with stunning views but only 5-10 minute walk into Keswick.
Facilities
The toilets and showers have been totally refurbished in 2014, which was the only drawback during previous visits to the site. They've done a brilliant job and facilities are now spotless.
Cost
You pay for the location here. In high season, expect high fees. Well worth it though.

Arrived late on after a phone call.
Plenty of space mid week on the backpacker field in front of Derwent Water, beautiful setting.
Check in smooth and as non members, cost was plus £6 odd per tent.
Pitching no issue, the odd stone only.
Shower block was clean and great.
Sleep no issue, early up with the noisy geese.
You can swim in the lake and charges are £2 something to launch a kayak.
All in all, loved the site and will return.
Quick walk into town.
Don't go booths for breakfast as it was pants!
