Last minute decision to go here and very glad I did. Myself, the missus and the weans had a great time here. Food on the site was excellent value. The campsite toilets were very clean, no hot water in them yet though, not until they get the electrics wired up. There is toilets and showers up near the wee shop. ( didnt manage to get a hot shower, it was luke warm but roasting when I did not need a shower)

Had a fire on the beach which is allowed. Crazy golf, kids climbing house and slide structure. Good area for cycling. Great for sight seeing. good for boating and fishing. Will not be my last time here. 9/10 for 4 days visit.

I & wife took 2 young kids for one week. Would have stayed longer if didn't have to come home. Although it's about 40 minutes drive through a narrow single lane to get ANYWHERE, the site itself was great. Right on a sandy/shingly beach from which you can launch boats, the site is clean & simple with a small shop and cafe and a playground for kids. While we were there a group of dolphins swam past, jumping & diving and watched by the entire site as the sun went down...magical.

Port Ban is rather remote and involves travelling quite a long distance on single track roads - we did manage it with our large twin-axle van, however. The site is very self contained with cafe, shop, library, etc. It's as well to stock up on basic food supplies as it's a long way to the nearest town.

It has a superb location overlooking its own beach. We got a touring caravan pitch right above the beach 2 metres forward and one metre down. The views across to the Paps of Jura are superb especially the sunsets. It's a great place for messing about in boats and canoes can be hired. There are plenty of simple type pleasures for kids.

On the way home we extended our holiday by````` travelling by ferry to the Isle of Arran for a few days and then on to Ayrshire. That, also, saved some a lot of single-track miles driving home.

I've taken my kids to this site a couple of times now, and we've very much enjoyed it. We were camping and there is a seperate field for this a couple of hundred yards or so away from the main static caravan area. There are good play facilities and a decent cafe/fish & chip shop on site.

The high point though has to be the wonderful views out over the sea to the islands, a very lovely site to greet you on opening your tent of a morning. There is also a nice beach which my kids enjoyed exploring.

If staying here my advice would be to pick up fish and chips from the shops and head down to the beach to enjoy them while taking in the view to Islay and Jura.
