Given a great welcome on arrival and offered lots of information about the surrounding area. Only about dozen units on site (possibly because of the constant rain on Saturday)

Site very well maintained. Toilet block basic but clean (as others have mentioned it may struggle to cope during busy times with only two toilets and one shower in the gents)

Plenty of free hot water for washing up and the 20p shower was good 'n' powerful.

The bluebell woods around the site were in full swing and looked magnificent.

A lovely secluded site.

We stayed here on our very first even outing in a caravan.

The site was peaceful and quiet and and very tranquil. The facilities were clean and very functional.

The entrance to the site is down a very very steep hill, which was fine getting into the site, but getting out would be a problem. However the owner of the site has a 4x4 and was happy to tow the van to the top of the lane for us.

We stayed here mid week in July so it was lovely and quiet only about half a dozen pitches taken. The woods behind were fantastic for kids to explore, couple of rope swings. Lots of signs saying No ball games No this and No that - felt a please wouldn't go amiss, really annoyed me! Toilet block basic but clean. Lots in local area to do, Bodiam castle, Battle Abbey - our son was in heaven!

Received a friendly welcome on arrival, with plenty of choice of a pitch. The site being split into 3 fields gives it a cosy feel. Toilets are basic and limited but the 20p gives you a decent shower - just don't go in the morning when everyone else does! Nice surroundings, short walk to the station for easy access to Hastings/Battle. Plenty of play space for the kids in relation to the size of the site. We had a very pleasant long weekend here.

Really lovely campsite and friendly helpful owner.
Nice pitches, although slight slope to the family field at least. Didn't bother us much, though things did seem to slide off the table, mostly late at night after a few glasses of wine!
Feels really off the beaten track which suited us perfectly. We took up four pitches in total and the owner didn't put anyone else in the pitch in our midst so we had plenty of space. Site was so nice that on one of the days we just stayed there and took the kids (ranging in age from 2 to 7) off on an adventure in the surrounding woodland which they loved.
There was plenty of space for kids to play while we were there but I think that was because lots of central pitches were empty.
Toilets/showers were fairly clean if not very modern. Only one shower for males and one for females (though there is a disabled one which you can use as a family shower too) so I'd imagine when the site is full that could get busy. None of this bothered us as the site was so magical, but if you are looking for 5 star facilities this wouldn't be for you.
Battle Abbey very near for a visit and we went to Bodiam Castle which is about 20mins away and absolutely fab - all the kids loved it.
All 4 separate parties in our group said they would go back to this campsite which is a good endorsement.

Nice site, not too big, large well-spaced and flat pitches. Some areas shady in the morning. Small play area in middle, fishing lake at one end. Site was busy as it was half term, but children generally well-behaved and night was peaceful. Toilet block cramped and to one side of site - a long way if your pitch was the other side. Men's had only 2 toilets + 1 shower (20p) - nice and hot but not very clean and not really enough for the size of the site.
Mostly tents - a few touring caravans but no statics. Good value - would go back, but remember to shower outside peak hours.

What a beautiful campsite and friendly owners/wardens! Wildlife is terrific, we spotted so many breed of bird and a white squirrel! Need to come back for bluebells. No problem with access and hard-standing was welcome. Great walks for the dogs too.

We came camping when the weather was pretty wet and miserable. But there were lots of things to do in the area to keep the kids entertained! The owner was very helpful and the site was simply beautiful. Pitch was not too wet or muddy considering the rain.
The toilet block had everything we needed and was very clean and there were notices around explaining the developments to be made with extra facilities next year.
The no-football was fine, especially as we've been to campsites where you constantly get battered.
Perfectly situated. Might come in a caravan next time because of the rain!
Will come again and would recommend.

We visited this site with a group of friends for a weekend. Pitches are quite well spread out and level. It is a peaceful, rural and pretty site with woodland all around. There are BBQs to borrow and the owners were friendly.

Although other reviewers have really loved this site unfortunately we cannot agree. The toilet block was really inadequate and not very clean. There is only one shower and it was so grubby no-one fancied a shower.

The facilities are not really enough for the size of the site. Those in the furthest field had quite a trek to the loos.
It does say no ball games but no-one took any notice of this. In fact one group were using the post with the 'No ball games' sign as a goalpost!

The single track private road in and out is extremely steep and twisty. Wouldn't be too keen towing a caravan on that.

A great site for visiting Battle and Hastings etc but wouldn't visit again due to the loos. It is a very popular site though as it's often fully booked.

Wardens friendly, however, facilities very poor. Only 1 shower in ladies and 1 in gents and just 4 toilets in each - inadequate for the size of the site - there seemed to be a queue most of the time. They were also not very clean. Showers cost 20p - I would rather pay a little extra on the site fees to have an unlimited supply of hot water, especially as the coin metre was outside the shower so you couldn't feed the metre without risk of exposing yourself!
