The site is well placed for Reeth village with its pubs, shops and cafes. It's about a 5 minute walk in and they have just about everything you need. The location is beautiful, beside the River and with views along Swaledale. It's a flat, grassy site with plenty of shelter from trees, including apples with a mix of statics, seasonal vans and tourers. The owners turned out to be friendly and helpful. There is no shortage of interesting walks with views. We paid £15+2. 50 for EHU. All very positive.

On the debit side, the toilet and power supply need updating. Power supply has a 6amp fuse and you need a travel kettle to boil water. Toilets and showers, though clean are dated and there is only 1 in the Men's at least.

This is a lovely site though.

Quiet campsite in a lovely setting next to the River Swale in the village of Reeth. The site has a mix of static caravans, caravans, camper vans and tents. The statics are quite old.

From a tent camping perspective, the site offers the following good points:

1. Itís relatively cheap. We paid £20 per night including electric hook-up, and we brought two dogs and two cars. Considering this was June, we felt this came in at about £10-15 cheaper than most other sites

2. The site is well sheltered by trees. There were strong 50mph winds one day but the tent barely moved.

3. Pitches are flat, the grass is well cut, no stones and thereís plenty of space, despite it being a small site.

4. The village has some shops for basic provisions as well as some pubs. All within a 5-10 minute walk max.

5. Itís very quiet at night. You donít hear traffic or village noise.

Some things which are not so great:

1. The toilet/shower block could do with modernizing. There were three toilets in the gents and one shower, right next to one of the toilets. Not great to be showering whilst someone next to you is on the loo. The shower requires 20p for five mins. Always annoying to be dealing with this kind of shower facility. No running hot water in the toilets means you have to wash your hands with cold water.

2. Could do with having a water tap near to the tent pitching area. In fact, if there are plans to build a new shower and toilet block, Iíd suggest it is located nearer to where the tent pitches are, as tent campers need these facilities more than those in statics, tourers etc.

3. Only one narrow road entrance/exit from the park, and bumpy in places. Not great for vehicles nor pedestrians and dog walkers.

4. Not a criticism of the site, more the location. Whilst very pretty, getting to anywhere requires travelling down single track winding roads with lots of hills, dips and single track bridges. Crow flies distances of 10-15 miles become 45 minute journeys.

For the price, the value is ok, and iím sure the new site owners - who were very friendly and helpful - will do their best to maintain and improve the site. As it standstill just now, iíd be inclined to look at other options for tent camping, even if it meant paying a little more per night.

Lovely location in Swaledale near Reeth. Well maintained grounds run by a pleasant husband and wife team, they are to be found around the campsite on a regular basis keeping things under control.

Mixture of statics, tents, touring caravans and motorhomes.

Electric hook up available.

Shower block is adequate, does the job but is dated. Only one shower in the mens - runs scalding hot if someone turns on a cold water tap! No hot water at the pot wash.

No play facilities for small kids - site is more suitable for campers with no kiddies and those young or fit enough to do the coast to coast.

Reeth is a picturesque town with several pubs, a convenience store, post office, bakery & ice cream parlour.

Had a quick look around this site while we were on a visit to Reeth, chatted to the owners who have apparently not been there very long. They were very friendly and informative. We were impressed, it all looked neat and tidy. And really close to the village with shop pubs etc, in fact we stumbled upon it while on a stroll around one early evening. Next time we will be camping here. We did not check out toilet and shower facilities or child friendliness.

Great little site just 10 minute walk to the centre of Reeth - New owners Ian, Sharon and Callum.

Grass pitches with hook up also shower and toilet in a central block (20 pence for shower). Small market in Reeth on Friday mornings -few shops and 3 pubs in the area. Buses to Richmond and Leyburn daily.

Lots of nice walks in the area but great pub (Bridge Inn at Grinton) good food and lots of real ale is just half a mile walk.

Great value at £17. 50 a night.

Great campsite really convenient to Reeth village. Under new ownership- really nice friendly family.

We arrived quite late after a long drive from Essex and the owners were really helpful in getting us set up quickly in the dark.

Facilities were fine for us- perhaps a bit basic for some but it had shower, toilets and washing area so ticked all our boxes. Its not a huge site so didn't need to queue for the shower and the 20p was plenty for me.

No children's play area but local park is only 5 minutes away.

Single track road can make for a few challenges but just need to avoid busy times.

Reeth itself seems quite a nice village and a good base for walks in the local area. Small corner shop near site entrance to site was handy for picking up a few emergency supplies but probably need to go to leyburn for any real food shopping. Had a drink in the black bull- was friendy local- kids had quite a bit of coaching from local character. Then had a meal at kings arms- was quite busy so had to sit outside but food was good and came quickly.

Overall the site was great value for money and we hope to go back some day.
