I purchased one of these tents after seeing them pitched at our local Camping shop and liked the look of them for their size and the amount of space they have in them for table and chairs with enough room for the children to play as well. We found it easy to put up in roughly 30 mins for 2 people and easy to fold and put away back in its back. It is a little heavy but you forget about that for the sheer spaciouness you get with this tent.

We have camped in scotland with it and the weather up here isnt known for being kind some days and the tent performed really well in the wind and rain and we had no leaks or problems with the poles and stayed up exactlet the way we had pitched it.

Cant wait to use it again in june

I bought the Vermont for the space if the weather turned bad and what a great choice it has turned out to be. We have had thunder storms, gales, torrential rain and hot days and everyone has been made easier by owning this tent.

Even packing up wet was a dream as we took out the bath tub from ground sheet and backed the car up an trans shipped everything in to the car dry.

It is a lot of tent to put up on a windy day but it is stable a dry what more can I say.

We were worried by some of the poor reports on the 2007 tents but this does not appear to have carried through to the 2008 models.

Further to my last review I've just received a replacement 2008 tent today from Oase Outdoors (Denmark). I was instructed to retain the poles and pegs but everything else has been replaced. I've not heard of any leaking problems with the 2008 model so hopefully I can get back into camping in our wonderful aquatic climate. I'll update if I encounter any problems. Although I maintain Outwell are difficult to contact direct I can't fault their excellent customer service. Anyone wishing to contact them would be advised to visit their website - link below

Having just returned from a VERY wet and windy 2 weeks in Cornwall, I decided to write a review of this brilliant tent.

This was our 3rd family holiday in it, and it really stood up to everything that Cornwall threw at us!

We upgraded in April last year from a Khyam Rigidome XXL because we wanted more space for our family and I wanted to be able to stand properly upright!

It is spacious and has brilliant storage. We cooked and ate in the front section and used the 'living space' for everything else.It is really cosy, especially with the addition of a tent carpet (bought and used for the first time this holiday).

Some of the reviews have been less than favourable about it's ability to stand up to rain, but I can honestly say that it couldn't have performed better.

We have been camping as a family for years and have never encountered such consistently heavy rain and strong winds, and the Vermont L handled it all. It was only beaten by a mouse nibbling through both the footprint groundsheet and the integral groundsheet. Obviously it had had enough of the cornish weather!

We have dried it out and repaired the nibble holes and are already planning our next camping adventure.

To sum up, if you are looking for a spacious family tent with great storage, which is straightforward to put up and take down and which will cope with the extremes of weather we get here, then I can't recommend this tent highly enough.

I bought this tent last year 2009 paying £650.00 which included a footprint and the carpet for the living area! We used it twice, once in the May half term holidays to give the kids a taste of camping which they loved, we then used it for a week in Cornwall, it was ideal when the weather turned foul, completely waterproof and plenty of room for three adults and three big kids. I am buying the side entrance canopy for it this year and using the front entrance as an eating and storage area. The tent drew comments from other campers were we stayed, so much so my brother in law went out and bought one the day after we returned home!

If you want a tent for a family, made of quality then look no further. This tent is faultless. Just got back from 3 days in Cromer. Extreme wind and rain and this beauty didn't move an inch. Granted they are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Other tents on site were collapsing and being laid down whilst she stood strong.

We've had our Vermont L since summer 2009 and think its just a fantastic tent. We spent 12 nights in it in Dorset, glorious weather so it wasn't really challenged, however have also spent some rainy weekends in Scotland recently and not a drop has leaked into the tent and its stood its ground in high winds. The SIG and the bathtub in the front part keep it nice and dry.

Tons of space, very practical tent as well, lots of little pockets to store things, lots of windows to let in plenty of light. We've used this tent about 7 or 8 times now so are getting pretty well practised in putting it up, only takes us about 30 mins. Putting away has got easier too, there's a knack to folding it up but once you've got it, it rolls up great and into the storage bag. We've had no problem with any of the seals or windows, the only niggle we've had is that the zips can be sticky now and again.

To say the tent sleeps 6 is a bit of a push, its comfortable for us 2 adults and the two kids, any more than that would be a bit of a squeeze. Would thoroughly recommend for family camping.

We recently replaced our Montana 6 and front extension for a Vermont L. This was a great choice for us. The Montana was a great tent but the extension was a real pain in the butt! Since swapping to the Vermont we have not looked back - so easy to erect and no need to deal with the difficult extension. We cannot believe people are putting the Montana extension on the front of this tent as it really isnt required. Great tent, great quality (you get what you pay for) easy to erect - what more could you want!

We LOVE this tent!

The size is perfect for our family of four, with some growing room. We're an untidy bunch but the design and layout helped us to get organised. The Vermont is so simple to erect and took us (novices) just under an hour. We had almighty rainstorms, thunder and lightning, near gale force winds and blistering sunshine and this baby stood up to it all! In fact, during the winds it barely moved!

Our local dealer advised us to buy a Montana plus extension as we really wouldn't need all this space but he was so wrong! My only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner! :O)

We have had the Outwell Vermont L for four years now and absolutely love it! Everywhere we go, the tent attracts comments from other campers and caravanners as it does look quite impressive when it's up. In fact, the tent itself is probably as long and as wide as a touring caravan so you can understand why it gains such attention!

As a few other reviews have commented, we had a few minor leaks during the heavy rains of 2007 (due to a faulty batch) but took it back to Caseys in Chester and they swapped it for another no problem. Since then we have had plenty of leak-free camping and the tent certainly stands up to the wind too!

There is loads of living space and the bedroom cabins are pretty adequate - Although the specification states 6 berth, we only have 2 adults and 1 child sleeping so we're very comfortable. Think it would be a squeeze to sleep 6 but could easily accommodate 2 adults and 3 children.

We love the fact that the main living area can be completely zipped up, leaving the front area as a kitchen/utility area (and a good place for leaving your shoes too!). This keeps the sewn-in groundsheet clean and dry as we tend to only use the side doors for ventilation.

We haven't succumbed to buying the wall-to-wall carpet yet (probably only a matter of time) but we have just purchased the Montana 6 front canopy, which I believe is compatible with the Vermont L. Hopefully this will help to keep the entrance area of the tent drier, especially when going in and out of the tent via the front door in wet weather! Will try this out for the first time when we head off to Herefordshire next week!

We considered buying the new side extension but, to be honest, as we don't tend to use the side doors we couldn't really see the point!

Be aware that the tent bag and poles are quite bulky and can take up a lot of room in a car so a roof box and/or trailer would be a good idea. With only having 1 child, we used to carry the tent as a 4th passenger and strapped it in by a seatbelt with the poles lying in the rear footwell! At least it was easy to access when we got to our destination! We've since bought a trailer and so it now goes in the boot of the car.

Pitching the tent is very straightforward. There was even a demonstration video on the Outwell website showing you what to do. We have it down to a fine art now and we can have the footprint down and the tent in an upright position in under 20 minutes. It just takes a bit longer to do all the pegging out!

Every year we look at other tents but haven't yet seen anything that we think is better than the Vermont L. Can see us using this tent for a good few years to come!
