6 Reviews of the Peace 500 Tepee

I bought this as my first ever tent for me and my son. Easy to erect but awkward to pack away due to the shape. I used this for a whole week in Newquay, the weather was very windy and some heavy rain. No leaks but the design of the floor/door area isn't good and had to prop bags against it at night as it just didn't stay up. It's fine for a weekend tent and you could fit 2 double airbeds in but I think 5 people would be a squeeze

Just bought one 2nd hand on e-bay, it has only been used once before, got home and it took 10 minutes to put it up in the garden. Love it. I wanted a teepee but wouldn't spend ฃ500 on a Outwell Indian Lake so bought the Vango Peace 500. Quality material, fittings and lovely thick groundsheet. It's got a large floorspace but the sloping sides make it rather impractical to utilise all the space but hey, it's a teepee, what do you expect?! That's just the price you pay to stand out as the coolest on the campsite! It fits 2 double airbeds easily and in the day you could double stack the beds and have plenty of room for 2 chairs and a small table. Other reviews mention the lack of door seal. Well I think all the tents appears to have been manufactured incorrectly. There's a strip of thick hook velcro fitted along the groundsheet at the entrance flap which should attach to a strip of loop velcro on the door to seal the bottom but it isn't fitted to the door so it doesn't seal, flops over and lets in draughts. Maybe this is why they mostly were sold off as reduced and discontinued. No worry, it's such a funky tent and I may sew a couple of velcro strips on myself to overcome this problem. Very cool tent (not for 5 people unless they're very close friends) perfect for a couple or 3.

Lovely tent, great value for the ฃ59.99 we paid in the sale, will be using it a lot.

Easy to erect and only takes 10 minutes.

We had a double air bed one side of the pole and a single the other side and there was plenty of room left.

Did not leak in the rain.

Stayed up in very bad wind [even with a bowed pole]

There were a few things that would have made this a brill tent 10/10:

Its a shame there are no windows.

My centre pole bowed and we felt that it was a strain on the roof so we are going to replace it with a steel telescopic pole.

Also did not feel the need for five low air vents around the bottom which let a lot of wind in! we blocked ours with clothes and there was no condensation in the morning [am now going to make covers and attach with sticky velcro to cover them]

The door panel across the bottom is not taught and just sits flat on the ground and with the door not zipping across the bottom there's a large gap.

We brought the tent home damp but it dried really quick which is a good thing.

We are pleased with our purchase.

A brilliant, fun tent! I got a bargain at Yeomans - ฃ60 - how could I resist! I have slept in it in the garden in March and the temp got down to -4 but even with the single skin I felt cozy! Simplicity itself to pitch only taking minutes! The polycotton has a rubbery feel to the inside and I did notice condensation but hey - it wasn't ideal camping weather! Will be interested to see how it fares in warmer weather. Plenty of ventilation and space - although I wouldn't want to sleep 5 in it. Ideal for solo or 2/3 people but I'd say no more. Very substantial SIG - thick & durable. Small and lightish pack for the size of this tent. Negatives -

Rain ingress through sloping door in wet weather - needs a tarp or similar

Draughty due to no zip/velcro at base of door

But for the money this is a little cracker!

This really is a funky little tent,so simple to erect. Approx 5 mins!

Really good quality feel to it and has kept us bone dry in hideous weather. It is an ideal w/e, short stay tent and just screams to be taken out, above all else the kids absolutely adore it!

Plenty of room for four of us on self inflating mats (2 adults 2 kids) worth shopping around. There are some cracking deals available. Enjoy!

I was looking for a small tent that would be quick to erect and suitable for use in the garden ( my son loves to 'garden camp' ) but more so as a guest tent when we are away for short stays. I had however largely ignored the idea of a tipi, dismissing them as impractical.

However after careful thought ( not to mention a bargain deal from Yeomans ) I plumped for this Polycotton Tipi. I thought I would like it, but I was wrong, I totally LOVE it ! It takes literally seconds to erect, its stable, roomy ( will easily sleep 3-4 adults ) It looks fab, a real eye turner and inside its so so cool and cosy. It comes in a smallish carry bag - has just one main Alloy pole and is supplied with a small repair kit and Alloy pegs ! ( thank you )

The Polycotton material that VAngo use feels a little more poly than Cotton - but still remains cool in the warm sun - the colour is called Sage - I call it Pastel pepermint LOL - its a basic design ( like all Tipi's ) but there are a number of vents around the base of the tent and two in the roof. Like all Tipi tents Cotton or Cotton canvas is a must - and thankfully Vango supply this tent with a really good sewn in groundsheet in very heavy black PVC.

In the rain it works too - and its not bothered by windy conditions either. Inside its surprisingly roomy with space for one double airbed and one single - I suppose a a push you could maybe manage two doubles - but I would like to try it !

I just love the simplicity of this tent !

Any negatives - well maybe perhaps - It looses a point for the lack of a mesh door to keep the midges out - and it drops another point for the slightly poor design of the main entrance door that doesn't zip into the ground-sheet at floor level ( therefore being a bit draughty ) but I have to add an extra point for its sheer looks and likeable factor - so all in all its a 9 out of 10 for this great bargain of a small tent made from Polycotton !
