5 Reviews of the Capri 500 Airbeam

OK, so we gave this tent 3 weeks by a lake in Italy. All weathers from sunshine to storms - SUPERB.

The awning section is so good.No draught, shelter, privacy all rolled into one.

So easy to pitch

We also purchased an extension awning but never used it.

My only 'gripe' was the quality of the additional groundsheet for the porch area, this is flimsy and nowhere near as good as the material used for the footprint, which all together more robust.

One of the best tests we have ever owned

Love this tent, but we are buying the optional porch. We needed to try it without first.

The porch will give us the extra space to store the bikes in the tent.

Love the tent, we gave her a test run at Plaxton Moor farm.

Shame the hanging pockets are a bit long but I have shortened it. We've bought the canvas storage to use in the second bedroom to keep all the kit together.

We bought ours from 'Outdoorworld'.Superb service.

I say I own one, I have a pre-order for the 2018 model. Lots of tweaks since the 2015 model came out.

The colour is now HERB, a fresh yellow/green which makes the whole tent seem brighter.

Mesh doors on both entrances *******

Ventillation - this has been increased by 50%, there are air vents along the base line of the tent.

The air valves are now at waist height and have been improved.

The canopy design sold it for us, it is so useful, it doesn't just cover the entrance it also covers the sides.

We originally wanted the 400 but the 500 gives just a bit more width, so this compensates for the lack of a massive living area. We will use the 2nd bedroom as storage.

Vango have listened to feedback and taken action it's a fantastic tent.

We had the Hartford XL, loved it but it was too big for two of us. The pop up tents have been great but for quality, efficiency, speed, space and overall aesthetics the Capri 500 wins all round.

Also, there is a door option, this gives even more space at the front. There is a door option for the 400,500, 600, 400XL, 500XL and 600XL models.

We love this tent for his space ! It is easy to put up! But now in France the roof torned in 3 places! Cannot be possible after 12 weeks of camping! Also the tension wires went broke one after one.We like to get a repair on the roof and to keep this tent! We hope Vango will help us!A comlete new roof is a must. The rest of the tent is very good and we want to camp whit it for many more years. We hope that is possible!

This is our first purchase of an tent without standard poles. We wanted a tent that would be quick to put up and this does not fault. We also needed a tent that would accomodate the husband at 6ft 4' and a teenage boy rapidly catching him up. Both can stand upright in the tent.

The tent is quick to pitch and in our first attempt at pitching in the wild took less than 15 minutes with just me and the teenager errecting it. I pegged out the four corners, then set the boy with pumping the beams. Minutes later the tent was up and just needed a bit more pegging and then guys. Within 30 minutes we had the tent pitched fully, beds made, kitchen area set up and were sat on chairs in the porch with tea in our mugs. That is camping!

A couple of gripes and hence why it doesn't get the full 10 out of ten. The bed pods don't have a fully zipped divider - its just toggles. This is okay for us, but a fully zipped pod would have been better. Also the doors are just single zip - so no option to meet them in the middle for the option of leaving a part open at night, or to have them at an easy location for night excursions.

Also the side door is good, but can't be zipped open in one, you need to unzip the mesh inner and then the door. Also we managed to catch the zip in the fabric - but not sure I can really blame Vango for that one.

Overall, I love this tent for the living area - it's not massive, but suits us and our style of camping (slightly minimalist). The bed pods are a good size and the windows let in a good amount of light. I LOVE the porch area - it's fabulous to be able to unzip the door and put shoes on protected from any rain, and without rain rolling off the top into the tent.

For the size of tent, it's fairly lightweight too.

Manufacturer's Description

New for 2015. For those seeking a more spacious and comfortable weekend tent, the Vango Capri is the perfect choice.

Available in 2 different designs, the 400, 500 & 600 are a compact design and the 500XL & 600XL are much larger family tents.

All sizes of the Capri are designed with an ideal use of space between sleeping, living and outdoor areas. The living area and built in front extension are large enough to entertain the whole family without feeling cramped. This is whilst the sleeping quarters with their ''Lights Out'' inners refuse to let the sunrise dictate your sleeping pattern.
