1 Reviews of the harrier 6SATC
By: TONY B Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2016 Rating: Date: 05/08/2016
I read the review of the earlier version of the Harrier 6satc which was called the Harrier xl and dismissed it as someone having a one off bad experience. I was wrong to do this and have experienced problems of my own and in particular am very very dissappointed with Outwell's Customer Aftercare which does not exist. I have bought Outwell products for many years and have been fortunate to have had no previous issues but my recent experience leads me to believe that their latest products are not manufactured to their previous high standards but are indeed very poor quality. We visited the NEC camping show and spent £2500 on Outwell products which included the Harrier 6satc, the awning, footprint & carpet, the typhoon compressor tent pump and furniture including the Padres table and xl table.
On our first camp with these products we experienced various problems that we have never experienced before in over 8 years of camping. The footprint was 1.2m too long for the tent meaning you have to peg the front of the tent through the footprint and pooling occurrs. The carpet is too wide for the tent and so curls up around the airbeams. The typhoon pump was not powerful enough to inflate the tent. We had a problem with an airbeam de-flating and after various conversations with the the Outwell supplier they sent a replacement airbeam direct from Outwell. There was no instructions on how to replace the airbeam and the airbeam arrived without any valves. What other industry could get away with this? If you had bought a new product and found a fault on first use, you would expect a replacement new product and not sent a spare part and expected to complete a repair. The padres xl table had 3 bottom corner posts cracked in two halves meaning the table would not stand up. The Outwell supplier has done their best to resolve these issues but have been unable to replace some products because they are now unavailable meaning the set up we had planned is incomplete.
I have tried to contact Outwell via their website about these issues and have twice been given ticket/reference numbers stating that someone will get back to me but on both occassions no-one has even responded so they are happy to take your money but be warned - if you have a problem, the customer aftercare does not exist. By comparison, a friend of mine bought an inflatable tent from GO OUTDOORS and he too experienced problems. He returned the tent and this was replaced the same day - problem solved.
I agree with the previous review of the Harrier XL which refers to the tent collapsing with any winds from the rear and wonder if this is because this tent is taller and probably wider than other inflatables. Anyway, in my opinion its not worth the risk and given that Outwells Customer aftercare is non existent I would go elsewhere. There are plenty of alternative choices these days.
