1 Reviews of the Abberley - Orange

By: MadNurseGaz  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2020   Rating:   Date: 21/05/2021

I was fortunate enough to win this tent in UKCampSite.Co.Uk's Advent calendar prize draws last year (thanks, Guys!) and have used it for the first time this week in the Yorkshire Dales. The tent was larger than I'd expected,at 370cm or 12 feet in old money.

The tent is easily pitched by one person, although OLPRO recommend two people in their instruction sheet. The three poles are in short sections, elasticated together, and easily feed through the tunnels on the tent roof. They flex without much effort and secure easily with the now usual 'pin-in-end' fixings. The inner tent (which has its own sewn-in groundsheet) toggles onto the inside of the roof, and clips onto the sewn-in groundsheet to give an internal space for a double airbed. All the tent's doors have mesh flyscreens which fasten separately from the door. The main front door is only weatherproof with the fly mesh fastened, otherwise the lower sill tends to sag below the bottom of the closed door, letting in draughts and rain. In the heavy and long-lasting rain experienced on this trip, a seam below the side door appeared to leak, allowing pooling of water in the porch area. Other than these issues, there were no problems at all.

I could sit comfortably in a camping chair inside the inner tent. There are hanging hooks at each end of the tent, for lamps, etc.

The Olpro Abberley is supplied with a full complement of pegs, and with 2 king poles and guy lines to enable either of the doors to serve as a sun canopy
