2 Reviews of the Air 600

This is a good value tent, which although I would not pay 600 for, the current reduced price of £270 makes this a bargain.

Given there are just 2 of us, this tent is ideal in many ways, from the increased height (I am 6'2') allowing me to easily stand up without any crouching, to the increased width, which allows tables and chairs to be placed inside in inclement weather or just in the evening.

There are ample air vents and a small side zip to allow an external power cable through to the inside.

A nice touch are the velcro tabs from this side zip to the lighting point hook on the centre beam, presumably to tidy the lighting cable away.

The instructions are not the best and an email to the seller proved useless given that after a week there was still no reply. I received this once we had returned from camping.

There is a method to putting up the tent which is not shown and I learned by my mistakes. I had asked about the air pressure to be used, given I was using an electric pump, but that was never told to me before I had to inflate the thing. I did read around and the common concensus was a pressure of 4.5 PSI, which as it turns out is mid range of what it is supposed to be. 3-6 PSI.

At this pressure the poles were firm and pegging the tent down with the delta pegs I had purchased for my previous tent, the whole setup was very stable.

Inflating the tent was a trial, given that you have to twist the connector onto the pole inlet valve. Given that you have to hold the tube whilst doing this, it is impossible to hold the back tube firmly with the other 2 tubes inflated, as you have to get your hand around the back of the tube.

I had purchased a footprint for the tent which of course is a great boon, allowing you to pitch the tent central in the place you want to put it.

All in all, it is a good tent for 2 - 4 people with ample manoeuvring room. 6 is a push unless you are very friendly.

We bought this tent as a weekend tent that could be used to take the two youngest kids camping.

This review is following a first pitch at Bluedot music festival.

The tent was pitched in very wet conditions and on a festival pitch so that the whole of one side was unpeggable due to the proximity of other tents.

Whatís good

The tent was, once up, completely waterproof. You could see the water beading and running off the sides.

The living area at the front of the tent is nice an airy, and has enough room to hold tables and chairs.

The sleeping area is one bedroom that fits 6, but thereís a curtain that makes it 3+3. It has darker material and we slept well.

There are lots of pockets for putting things, and there are light hooks in living area and bedroom.

Both main and side door can be king poled.

Good quality airpump with pressure gauge.

Groundsheet can lay flat at the side door for pram or wheelchair access (or to stop kids tripping up)

You can buy this for under £300 at Millets.

Whatís not so good

Thereís no insect netting on the side door.

The air poles donít seem to be as sturdy as on my Vango airbeam infinity.

Quite weedy tent pegs; we swapped them out immediately for some rock pegs.

Has a RRP of £600, but does not feel like a £600 tent.

Overall

This tent, at the sub-£300 this is a really good tent for, I would say, up to 4 people.

Even when pitched in sub-optimal conditions, the tent was very dry inside and remained so for the whole of the weekend.

This tent will feel perfectly good if your previous tent was not a top of the range Vango or Outwell. We found it a bit cheap compared to our Vango infinity, but that cost more than twice the price.

This is definitely not the best buy at £600 rrp. You can get better quality offerings from Vango for less than that.

If you are looking at tents from decathlon or go outdoors, the eurohike air 600 is good value against the airgo and quechua air tents.
