9 Reviews of the Arpenaz Family 4.1

I have had this tent for over 18 months now and used in different weather conditions throughout 3 seasons of the year, so I reckon that can make justified review about this particular tent.
It is very easy to assemble this tent and it should not take longer than 10-15 minutes to have this done. In order to disassemble it takes roughly the same amount of time and it's very straightforward process too. Tent can fit easily 3 or 4 people, though I found it very difficult to put inside either two double mattresses or four single camping beds.
It's quite dark inside bedroom and mesh on the bedroom's door provides reasonably good protection against small insects and Scottish midges in particular. Though, front/living area is of a completely different quality. It does not have mesh at the front door and water leaks though there as much as during small as heavy rain. Midges manage to fly through even when the front door is shut, so in the Scottish climate is unbearable to seat up there when weather does not permit to stay outside. I have ended up staying in bedroom at times when hordes of hungry midges attacked my tent. For this reason it might be better use in a different climat but definitely not in Scotland.
Though, this tent is quite sturdy and handles well wind and heavy rain, apart of front door not sticking well to the bottom part and letting water to come through. I would only recommend this tent to those people beginning their camping experience and those camping outside areas affected by midges. What you see for this price is what you get and I would rather seek for better and more expensive alternatives.

I have been given one of these today from my local freecycle. I was expecting to use it for spares but on opening it up it's in great condition. I deduced from the date on the obligatory empty crisp packet and the previous owner telling me its been used once that it's a 2016 tent. Lovely tent, easy to put up in about 15 minutes, most difficult bit was the ring and pin system. Looks good quality, spare poles and guy ropes included. Good size bag, it all goes back in easily. Look forward to sending my son off somewhere in it next Summer.

Easy to put up single handed. Took it to France last summer and due to interior size it never got too hot. We had some pretty vicious weather over there including extreme hail and it coped with it all.
Easy to take down but you probably need 2 people to fold it up especially if there is a bit of wind.
Best tent I've ever had.
However you wouldn't want 4 people in the bedroom!

Bought this tent for me and my 8 year old from Decathlon for £79. We used it for the first time this week (August 21st) for a trip to Scarborough.
It rained through the night for 2 nights and had a torrential downour on the 3rd day.
Not one drop of water inside the tent.
It is easy to put up on your own so with 2 adults it would be up in no time.
Only gripe was I noticed a split pole when taking down. It has a 2 yr guarantee so ill visit Decathlon and see what they say.
Highly recommended excellent for 2 may be a bit of a squeeze for 4.

Purchased this tent last yeard just for music festivals. Liked it so much we've now brought more stuff and going on holiday in it too.Loads of space and the bedroom area has loads of space (for2) would deffo recommend this tent for price. We got it when it was on sale in decathlon for £72 so even more of a bargain.

Purchased one of these in France when we camped for 11 days near Le Vigan. Easy to put up and certainly strong and waterproof. We experienced torrential rain and a mini tornado while were out there. No leaks and it held fast (with ordinary wire pegs) and us standing inside and holding on to it too! We have since moved on to another tent but passed on to a friend in France who is now using it. Excellent budget choice.

We had used a Decathlon T4 since 2009, and after five years of good and loyal service we decided to replace it. The T4 was an excellent buy, having stood up to a gale on the isle of Skye when the neighbouring tents either broke spars, ripped, or disappeared completely. The T4 is now replaced by the Arpenaz family 4.1. There have been some improvements made, like the addition of a groundsheet in the living area and the re positioning of air vents, which make the tent more adapted for the British climate than its predecessor. I am 6 foot and can stand up inside the tent, which is a comfort that I do appreciate. I personaly recommend this tent for two adults or even for a couple with a small child. Easy to erect and pack, robust and good value for money.

Brilliant tent nice size height and room inside very bright and warm. Easy to put up when we had watched online video, very easy to take down. Keeps wind and rain out. After camping in Whitby with bad winds it still stayed standing which I was surprised at! Will definitely be upgrading for another one later on.

Just bought this as a little tent for me and the wife to use and it is very easy to put up only three poles and then the bedroom pod. Was a decent price so thought id give it a go . Only put up in garden so far but hoping to use in august for a few nights, bedroom very spacious and the living area has a removable groundsheet so be easier to keep clean, overall I'm happy with it as hoping to use in fine weather only
