3 Reviews of the Bantu 6 Air

We are a family of 4 and we bought this tent as our Vango had worn out, after initial Vango-love some years ago when they were made really well, we got fed up with the newer versions especially the poles (aluminium) which had persistent faults - we could never camp without taking spare sets as usually several would break. So after lots of research we found the Nomad tents, these have GOOD aluminium poles and high quality cotton for material. This is a lovely tent and our family love it! It is heavier but this was a big advantage, we camp in the Isles of Scilly and the winds there can be strong so we were looking for a tent that should survive for many years. This year was no exception and the tail end of Hurricaine Bertha hardly moved our tent. Many campers put their tents down, several were ripped, but the Nomad stood firm, keeping all the rain out too! For once we slept soundly knowing that we were safe inside. (though we did take the porch down for the hurricane as it was directly facing the wind). There is a zip in middle section which is lovely in the evening as it keeps the tent warmer in the inner section, this has lots of pockets. The only thing we would change on this tent is for a wider door in the middle section to give a bigger feel to the main compartment, otherwise it is as near perfect as a tent gets! Thank you Nomad.

What an amazing tent, spacious and strong. Survived gales and lashings of rain. Takes about an hour to erect properly, quicker if both people already know what they are doing. I searched for weeks for a good tent before stumbling on this tent. They are now only sold in mainland Europe. My tent has the front awning too, this is a must to stop rain entering the front of the tent every time the door is used.

The supplied pegs are only good for scrap, so I upgraded the pegs to something twice as thick.

We have only slept with 4 in the tent and it was very spacious so I suspect it could handle more especially if they were children.

The polycotton construction gives it a very different feel which I find more pleasant.

Takes up a lot of car boot space.

After a long and hard search looking for a quality cotton family tent that would be easy to put up, not take up the entire car boot, but be spacious enough for an active family of 4, we settled on the Nomad Bantu 6 Air. We also bought the porch, which adds a useful space for storing wellies and kitchen equipment. This tent is extremely spacious, airy and you wake up feeling fresh (unlike sleeping in a non-cotton tent). It's cool in the heat of the summer, well ventilated and light. There's plenty of room if you're stuck inside on rainy days and need space for children to play. At night, it's quite cosy and the internal divider cuts down draughts and adds privacy. It does take 2 to put up, but it is straightforward to do so. The groundsheet is zipped in and very tough, but a tarpaulin underneath is useful to keep it clean. The Nomad supplied pegs are a bit flimsy, but overall, the tent is very high quality and a good alternative to the enormous and heavy French frame tents that I have been used to, that took ages to put up with complex pole systems.
