I'm looking to buy a trailer tent to go to festivals in Leeds so only up the road from me but I have no idea if my 2003 vw polo 1.4 Tdi can pull one.
I am looking at a preowned sunncamp holiday 450se trailer tent but I have no idea what I'm looking for or the best trailer for my car. Any info would be greatly appreciated
If trailer is unbraked then you need to find out your max unbraked towing weight. Then you need to find out loaded weight of trailer. If trailer has brakes then you should be ok because max braked tow weight should be adequate. Tow weights for you car should be on V5 & in handbook. Do all that & then post back for final guidance.
Just looked and it says with brakes 900kg and without 500kg finding it very hard as most people selling on eBay and other sites are not stating the load weight
The weights will be on a plate on front of trailer. If you are looking at eBay then you should only buy from seller who is happy to communicate with potential buyers during auction. You want laden & unladen weight. Trailer tents tend to be quite light under 400kg. It might state fully laden weight of 750kg but ok for your car provided you do not load it beyond 500kg. Carry most of your gear in car & that will be ok.
