Battery in the caravan?
You could add the 12S socket to the car. Smart charge relay is a simple option.
Or just get some jump leads and pop them directly from the car to the battery.
How much electric are you going to use?
With just lights a battery will last a week easily.
I used the motor mover to position the van and level it and got a week out of the battery with enough power left to put the caravan back into storage using the mover.
And movers use lots of power.

Hot water uses a small amount of power for the control board. But you wont leave in on 24/7 will you?
Older fridge uses no power, Newer ones have control boards also.
A 100Ah battery should last the week easily. Mine easily lasted a week + the mover as i mentioned above.

if it has a towbar fitted the relay should already be fitted into the boot area.

The buzzer relay? It will be in the indicator lighting circuit.
When you attach a trailer it will buzz when you indicate or put the hazards on.
If you dont have one you need to check to see if you have a visual warning of a bulb failure.
If not you need to fit one or the other. Audible or visual warning is required.

I don't think Jim is asking about that. The split charge connections to the 12S socket - ie for fridge and battery charging - are through a relay which doesn't kick in until the cars alternator is producing something like 13 volts (on some relays this figure is adjustable). So if you have a correctly wired 12S socket on the car, it will be through a relay.
