Bought a Montana 6 with various extras, the first one leaked in 6 places. Supplier (Outdoor World) sent a replacement without any fuss. Put this one up and it leaks in 7 places. Both tents have had to endure endless rain (but not torrential) last weekend and this weekend but even so, I wouldn't expect this many leaks. I am concerned that the popularity of Outwell and this tent in particular may mean that the quality of manufacturing in China has dropped in order to keep pace with demand. I don't think I'm being unduly fussy, 1 or 2 I could probably cope with if they weren't at the sleeping end.
What would do, ask for a 3rd replacement or send the whole lot back and look at an alternative manufacturer?
I have no leaks at all with my indiana....can't understand why some models have problems and some have none at all. Perhaps the indianas were manufactured elsewhere as they are apparently no longer made by outwell.
I have the monty 6 2006 model and have never had any problems with leaks and our last couple of weekends away we have had quite alot of rain on it so it sounds like it could be just some bad batches but i must admit i am quite surprised at the amount of people who have commented about this problem. Maybe its something that outwell need to look into

Hi gordon
As i said in a previous thread.Their is a lot of campers now using this site manufactures reviews can never be trusted they only tell you the good points,on the Camping UK website you will hear the truth. If it is the odd thing it may just be a manufactures mistake but the recent weather as put all tents through their paces and I am afraid Outwell have not come out of it too good.

We got the Montana 6 2007 model this year, not a leak here and we had two weeks at Glastonbury in all the mud and rain you saw on the TV. Sorry to hear your Monty is not so good. To be truthful would rather have been in the Outwell than any of the other tents we own.

How did you come to this assumption? I ask because it seems a little bit sweeping.
Hi gordon
All you have to do is read through the posts on the Outwell tents there is more people havening trouble with them than any other at the moment.
The post speak for themselves

Hi ricket
You may have got a good one but as I live quite close to the festival fields, yes we have had quite a lot of rain but no very heavy storms, and it is the heavy wind driven storms were good tents show there ability to keep you dry.

I haven't seen these posts about leaking Montys? Well, not this year anyway. Last year there were a few, but these were focused on the zips leaking I believe?
We have two Outwells, the Nebraska XXL and the Montana 6. The XXL was brand new when we bought it and was exchanged twice for another, as the first one had minor faults and the second leaked like a sieve. The third one seems OK but has yet to be tested in bad rain.
The Monty was an ex display model and it stood up to some bad weather and some very heavy rain over Whit week and it didn`t let in one drop of rain.
I still love Outwell tents and still prefer them over other tents. They ticked all the boxes for us. OH loves the Monty and that`s his favourite, but the XXL is mine because of the space. I love the fact I can leave all the kitchen equipment etc in the porch and keep the living area purely for relaxing in.
I would rather persevere with one of my tents, than swap it for one I know I wouldn`t like half as much.
Hi Rex, our montana has been not only out for two week at Glastonbury, we have camped a lot of times this year already and in all sorts of weather, including strong winds and rain and not a leak not one.
We were away in our Indy 6 last weekend and it had to cope with more or less constant heavy rain and strong gusting winds. It did us proud - not only were we warm and completely dry, but we had several of our neighbours in (we were camping with a large group of friends) when their tents gave up the struggle. Interestingly, one of the only other families on the rally field looking both snug and smug were also in an Outwell, although not sure which one.

Hi rickit,
That is what we all want to hear there are a lot of people who have bought Outwell tents let us hope that the people that have problems get them sorted out and replaced by good one's from their suppliers. If you by a tent for £99 and it leaks ??? it should not but to make a tent and profit for £99 or less you can not expect perfection. But the price you have to pay for the Outwell tents you should. But I believe Outwell are not forthcoming with helpful information.
I am a flight simulator user on my PC. even Microsoft's team who developed Flight Simulator X joins in the AVSIM forum to answer customers problems and 90% of all the add on producers have their own help forums attached to a established forum like this. That is the service we should expect from the tent manufactures. There I go again
the wife said I should have been a vicar.just think of the size of tent I could have then
All the best
Rex
